  • Patent number: 7214383
Abstract: The present invention provides for a stent for treatment and prevention of arterial stenosis and re-stenosis. The stent for intraluminal placement within an artery and subsequent expansion for implantation in a patient comprises of a main body portion having a first end and a second end, for defining a passage for flow of blood there-through, the main body portion having an inner lumen surface and an outer lumen surface, the outer lumen surface coming into contact with the endothelium and delivering a drug composition on the outer lumen surface directly only to the endothelium for providing cell surface antithrombotic activity, wherein the anticoagulation activity in the blood plasma of a patient is not appreciably increased.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 16, 2003
Date of Patent: May 8, 2007
    Inventor: Bruce Alan Daniels
  • Patent number: 7022682
Abstract: The present invention provides for a method for treatment and prevention of Type II Diabetes Mellitus and its complications comprising the step of administering to a patient a therapeutically-effective amount of Rhamnan Sulphate, its functional analogs, or its physiologically acceptable salts, in therapeutic proportions. Anticoagulation activity in the blood plasma of a patient is not appreciably increased.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 2003
Date of Patent: April 4, 2006
    Assignee: Endomatrix, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20040208893
Abstract: A method and composition is described for prevention or treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus and its complications comprising the step of administering to a mammal an amount of seaweed extract in effective doses. The seaweed is selected from the group consisting of brown algae, red algae and green algae, wherein the seaweed extract contains a polysaccharide. Optionally, the polysaccharide is Rhamnose, in approximately 63-78 mole %.

  • Patent number: 6797705
Abstract: The invention described is a method and composition for inducing cell surface anti-thrombotic activity in endothelial cells comprising administering to a patient a therapeutically-effective amount of Rhamnan Sulphate. The dose of Rhamnan Sulphate is equivalent to between approximately 8,000 IU and 12,000 IU of heparin activity daily on variable schedule or optionally at single dosage of 7.5 mg/kg, that is repeated on a daily basis as needed, to lower the incidence of thrombus formation or to lower the incidence of hard clot formation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 2002
Date of Patent: September 28, 2004
    Assignee: EndoMatrix, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20040170645
Abstract: The invention of comprises of a method and composition for retardation of cardiovascular disorder in a mammal comprising the step of administering to a mammal an amount of seaweed extract in effective doses. The invention also comprises a composition and method for preserving cardiovascular health in a mammal comprising the step of administering to a mammal an amount of seaweed extract in effective doses. The seaweed is selected from the group consisting of brown algae, red algae and green algae, wherein the seaweed extract contains a polysaccharide. Optionally, the polysaccharide is Rhamnose, in approximately 70 mole %. The seaweed extract optionally also contains approximately 6.5 mole % Xylose. Optionally, Rhamnose and Xylose are present in the seaweed extract in amounts in a ratio of approximately 11 Rhamnose to 1 Xylose.

  • Publication number: 20040116381
Abstract: The invention claimed is a method of predicting the structural integrity of a mammalian tissue comprising the steps of measuring an amount of a heparanoid-like substance in a mammalian bodily excretion then referring to a predictive chart showing a correlation between the amount of the heparanoid-like substance in the mammalian bodily excretion in relation to an amount of the heparanoid-like substance in said mammalian tissue and then predicting the amount of heparanoid-like substance in said mammalian tissue from the amount of heparanoid-like substance measured in the mammalian bodily excretion.
