  • Patent number: 10240290
Abstract: A cellulose nanofibrils production method comprising the steps of: identifying a desired level of cellulose nanofibrils pulp purity, partially refining pulp to produce a cellulose nanofibrils pulp purity between 5% and 15% less than the desired desired purity, and then separating out the cellulose nanofibrils from the longer fibers to produce the desired level of cellulose nanofibrils pulp purity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 3, 2016
Date of Patent: March 26, 2019
    Assignee: GL&V USA, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20070125891
Abstract: A method and a control system for a refiner for pulp or like materials, the control system comprising a sensor mounted in direct mechanical connection to a non-rotating refining member so that the sensor is responsive to axial vibration movement of the support, and an analog to digital converter connected to the output of the sensor. The method and control system also include a controller connected to the analog to digital converter and responsive to the analog to digital converter to compare the amplitude of the output signal from the sensor to a baseline value based on the level of vibration associated with the pulp refiner when it is operating without plate clashing. When the signal exceeds the baseline value, an action is taken to help alleviate the plate clashing.

  • Publication number: 20050045529
Abstract: A rotor having a longitudinal axis of rotation and including an outer surface adjacent a screen surface. The rotor also includes a plurality of sets of radially extending, relative to the rotor axis, adjacent vane members attached to the rotor surface, each set including at least four adjacent vane members with equally spaced apart and parallel trailing edges ending in a common plane. The two outermost vane members have leading edges forward of the two most inside vane members, with the leading edges forward of the two most inside vane members being angled toward its next adjacent vane. The height of the two innermost vane members is about half of the height of the two outermost vane members. Each of the outermost vane members is angled relative to the circumferential direction of travel of the rotor by each of the outermost having vane members with a leading edge that is angled relative to its trailing edge.

  • Patent number: 5240115
Abstract: An improved hydrocyclone and method of operating for centrifugal cleaning of pulp for papermaking wherein the hydrocyclone has a plurality of inserts each with openings of different sizes for selectively and interchangeably inserting into a stock entry opening and into a vortex finding outlet opening to adjust capacity and cleaning efficiency. In one form the inserts each can be changed by tubes of different openings which are installed into the inserts changing the opening sizes. In another form, the inserts are threadedly engaged with bosses or are adhered or frictionally fit into the bosses.
