  • Patent number: 9074556
Abstract: An engine operable using flash steam expansion comprising one or more cylinders each having a piston and one or more water injection ports, the pistons driven by flash steam expansion when injected water rapidly change state from liquid to gas. Another engine operable in an internal combustion mode and a flash steam expansion mode comprising one or more cylinders having a piston, an air intake port and valve, and first and second exhaust ports and valves, first, second, and third cam shafts, wherein the engine is selectably operable in a four-cycle mode or a two-cycle mode. A method of operating an engine in a four-cycle internal combustion mode and a two-cycle flash steam expansion mode comprising the steps of using internal combustion in a four-cycle sequence, detecting when a temperature of the engine reaches a predetermined temperature; and terminating internal combustion and using flash steam expansion in a two-cycle sequence.

  • Publication number: 20130145872
Abstract: A power transfer device may include a support assembly, a bearing assembly, and an axle that has at least one groove that is angled in a predetermined manner. A guide pin may be received within the groove. Rotation of the axle may then cause a linear input to be received by an output component attached to the end of the axle.

  • Publication number: 20080245182
Abstract: A rigid arm pendulum is combined with a helical device attached to the pendulum horizontal axle to provide a double reciprocating action. While the pendulum reciprocates in rotary fashion about the axle, describing successive arcs of less than 360 degrees, the axle simultaneously produces a reciprocating action about its longitudinal centerline. A pumping action is thereby developed in line with the longitudinal centerline of the axle. This pumping (linear reciprocating) action can be utilized for a variety of requirements, including a hydraulic pump and a system to drive an electric generator.

  • Patent number: 6431821
Abstract: A water driven impulse turbine has a barrel rotatably mounted upon an axle, with a plurality of runner blades extending tangentially from said barrel. Side plates secure the runner blades on opposite sides thereof. A breastplate is maintained in concentric juxtaposition with the wheel so defined. A penstock is interposed between a water source and the breastplate to pass water into the runner blades. The turbine may consist of a plurality of axially interconnected wheel sections of similar or dissimilar nature to optimize performance.

  • Patent number: 4274008
Abstract: A tidewater power system consisting of a high tide reservoir and a low tide reservoir. The high tide reservoir has an inlet adapted to be supported at high tide level and an outlet with a water wheel and generator between the outlet of the high tide reservoir and the low tide reservoir. The low tide reservoir has an outlet at the low tide level. The outlet from the high tide reservoir is adjustable to control the flow rate and the high tide reservoir can be closed at high tide to retain water for use over a period of time.
