  • Patent number: 9002628
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a memory and a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to receive holding instructions for an aircraft, wherein the holding instructions comprise a holding fix, a holding direction, and an inbound leg course, obtain an airspeed for the aircraft, obtain a wind speed and a wind direction affecting the aircraft, calculate a holding pattern for the aircraft using the holding instructions, the wind speed, the wind direction, an inbound leg duration, and the airspeed, obtain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) protected airspace limits associated with the holding fix, and present the holding pattern and the FAA protected airspace limits to a flight crew member on the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8955699
Abstract: An organizer that may be mounted on either one or two surfaces, such as a wall, ceiling or floor, or two of them, using limited space, and using jars or other containers for storage. It has four wooden slats that have jars or other containers attached. In the first preferred embodiment, there are several jars, the number depending on the jar size, attached to each slat. The lids are fastened to the slats, and the jars can be opened by unscrewing them from their lids. In the second preferred embodiment, plastic containers, with lids that can snap open and shut, are attached to the slates. There are handles on one end to rotate the storage system. Because they are transparent, the jars or plastic containers allow you to visually select what you are looking for. These jars or plastic containers can hold anything from hobby supplies to nuts and bolts.

  • Patent number: 8950599
Abstract: An organizer that may be mounted on either a wall, wall to ceiling, ceiling, or many other ways, using limited space, and using jars or other containers for storage. Rotatable or cylindrical elongated attachment members allow the organizer to be attached to different surfaces. It has slats to which containers can be removably attached. The slats may be fixed in place, or one or more of the slats may be rotatable. If jars are used, their lids are fastened to the slats, and the jars can be opened by unscrewing them from their lids. There are handles on one end to rotate the storage system. A ratchet can prevent slipping. Because they are transparent, the containers allow the user to visually select what he or she is looking for. These containers can hold anything from hobby supplies to nuts and bolts. Potential applications range from garage organizing to commercial applications.

  • Patent number: 8700317
Abstract: A method of calculating Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) published or FAA Air Traffic Control assigned aeronautical holding patterns, comprising the steps of: defining navigational way points using their latitude and longitude coordinates; displaying the latitude and longitude that define the point for an inbound turn; defining four posts of a holding pattern; and showing the actual holding space dimensions along with the non-protected airspace. The method may be performed by a stand-alone electronic device or an electronic device having other functions. The latitude and longitude that define the point for an inbound turn can be displayed as a bearing, and/or as a distance along a radial. The inbound turning point can be calculated using a global positioning or flight management system. A turn may be commanded using an automatic flight control system or flight director.

  • Publication number: 20110220600
Abstract: An organizer that may be mounted on either a wall, wall to ceiling, ceiling, or many other ways, using limited space, and using jars for storage. It has eight wooden slats that have jars attached. There are either six or seven jars, depending on the jar size, attached to the eight rows. The lids are fastened to the slats, and the jars can be opened by unscrewing them from their lids. There are handles on one end to rotate the storage system, and a ratchet on the interior to prevent slipping. The ratchet allows rotation in only one direction. Because they are transparent, the jars allow the user to visually select what the user is looking for. These jars can hold anything from hobby supplies to nuts and bolts. Potential applications range from garage organizing to commercial applications. It can be mounted in a commercial van for electricians or plumbers.

  • Patent number: 6167627
Abstract: A device for computing the heading of an airplane in the outbound leg of a holding pattern, and the bearing to a VOR or NDB station at which the airplane should begin turning inbound at the end of the outbound leg, given the bearing of the outbound leg, the speed and bearing of the wind, and the true airspeed of the plane, but without requiring the user to keep track of the time. In a first preferred embodiment, the invention comprises a slide rule with upper, middle and lower disks attached at their centers by a pivot, and a straight rule movably retained in a groove in an upper disk. There is a logarithmic scale for true airspeed on the straight rule, and a parallel and adjacent logarithmic scale for wind speed on the upper disk. The lower and middle disks each have degree markings, and the middle disk also has figures for heading and bearing corrections, to which arrows on the straight rule point.
