  • Patent number: 5597265
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the in-situ bio-remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. Perforated piping embedded within the contaminated region delivers a treatment fluid. The treatment fluid is either a mixture of water, contaminant-eating bacteria and nutrients or a chemical mixture of hydrogen peroxide, a catalyst and water. Ultrasonic or vibratory energy is supplied to the contaminated soil to momentarily increase the permeability thereof. The treatment fluid is then able to flow through the contaminated soil to mix with the contaminants. In one embodiment, an ultrasonic horn located within the perforated piping delivering the treatment solution is used to produce the ultrasonic energy. The ultrasonic horn emits ultrasonic sound waves having a frequency in the range of between 2,000 to 20,000 Hz. In other embodiments, the vibratory energy is emitted by a vibrating plate disposed on a surface of the soil or by a single or plurality of probes embedded within the soil.

  • Patent number: 4908847
Abstract: A conversion kit, consisting of a two piece adaptor set, allows a conventional non-cordless telephone to be converted to a cordless telephone. Each piece consists of a unitary body which houses a transmitter/receiver therein and a conventional modular male telephone plug. To convert a standard non-cordless telephone to a cordless telephone, the telephone cord is removed and one of the transmitter/receivers is plugged into the socket on the telephone base and the other into the corresponding cord socket on the handset.

  • Patent number: 4699591
Abstract: A connector for a modular telephone handset having a first part with modular terminal means thereon for connection to the modular terminal means of the handset and a second part coupled to the first part for rotation relative thereto. The second part has a modular receptacle terminal located at a fixed angle which is displaced from the common axis of the connector, said angle being greater than 0.degree. and less than 180.degree., and preferably about 90.degree., to accept an external modular terminal on an attached cord which can be twisted. The movement of the cord relative to the connector first part, by movement of either the cord or the handset, providing a torque force to the second part at said angle so that the second part rotates relative to the first part to prevent twisting of the cord.

  • Patent number: 4699592
Abstract: A connector to prevent tangling of a cord having a modular plug at its end which is to be connected to a telephone handset. The connector has a first part which is rotatable relative to a second part with the modular plug of the cord being attached to the connector first part at an angle off of the central axis of the connector, preferably 90 degrees, so that movement of the cord or handset causes the first part to be rotated relative to the second part. The second part of the connector can be integral with the telephone handset.
