  • Patent number: 4127277
Abstract: Spiral wound gasket assembly and method of making same, wherein a spiral wound gasket ring is positioned in an inner groove in a metal gauge ring and a deformation is formed in the gauge ring adjacent the groove to reduce the size of the gauge ring groove to retain the gasket ring within the groove.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 25, 1977
Date of Patent: November 28, 1978
    Assignee: Lamons Metal Gasket Company
    Inventors: A. B. Owen, Bruce M. Gifford
  • Patent number: 4118850
Abstract: A metal forming apparatus and method which uses the apparatus for closing the metal shell at a corner of a double jacketed gasket assembly. The apparatus includes a roller hammer means having a metal forming tool rotatably mounted eccentrically in a power-driven rotating tool holder mount for free rotation of the tool relative to the rotating tool holder upon engagement of the tool with a gasket shell. The eccentric mounting provides a reciprocating hammering motion to the tool and the free rotation allows the tool to roll along the gasket shell during engagement to avoid tearing of the gasket shell.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 7, 1976
Date of Patent: October 10, 1978
    Assignee: Lamons Metal Gasket Company
Inventors: A. B. Owen, Bruce M. Gifford, Horst H. Bahl, Lewis F. Akins
  • Patent number: 4059215
Abstract: A new and improved method and apparatus for forming a circular double-jacketed gasket and the new and improved double-jacketed gasket formed thereby, wherein a substantially linear double-jacketed gasket assembly having a substantially rectangular cross-section is formed from first and second metal strips and a core strip of filler material, and wherein the gasket assembly is edgewise curved in the plane of its greater dimension to a predetermined curvature in the nip between compression rolls, and thereafter, a circular gasket unit is severed from the gasket assembly and the ends of the severed gasket unit are secured by welding to form a circular gasket having a single joint connection in the entire circumference of the gasket.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 1975
Date of Patent: November 22, 1977
    Assignee: Lamons Metal Gasket Company
Inventors: Alfred B. Owen, Bruce M. Gifford
