  • Patent number: 9542931
Abstract: On a computing device a speech utterance is received from a user. The speech utterance is a section of a speech dialog that includes a plurality of speech utterances. One or more features from the speech utterance are identified. Each identified feature from the speech utterance is a specific characteristic of the speech utterance. One or more features from the speech dialog are identified. Each identified feature from the speech dialog is associated with one or more events in the speech dialog. The one or more events occur prior to the speech utterance. One or more identified features from the speech utterance and one or more identified features from the speech dialog are used to calculate a confidence score for the speech utterance.

  • Patent number: 9053087
Abstract: A semantic error rate calculation may be provided. After receiving a spoken query from a user, the spoken query may be converted to text according to a first speech recognition hypothesis. A plurality of results associated with the converted query may be received and compared to a second plurality of results associated with the converted query.

  • Patent number: 8949127
Abstract: A system and a method are provided. A speech recognition processor receives unconstrained input speech and outputs a string of words. The speech recognition processor is based on a numeric language that represents a subset of a vocabulary. The subset includes a set of words identified as being for interpreting and understanding number strings. A numeric understanding processor contains classes of rules for converting the string of words into a sequence of digits. The speech recognition processor utilizes an acoustic model database. A validation database stores a set of valid sequences of digits. A string validation processor outputs validity information based on a comparison of a sequence of digits output by the numeric understanding processor with valid sequences of digits in the validation database.

  • Patent number: 8180641
Abstract: Sequential speech recognition using two unequal automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems may be provided. The system may provide two sets of vocabulary data. A determination may be made as to whether entries in one set of vocabulary data are likely to be confused with entries in the other set of vocabulary data. If confusion is likely, a decoy entry from one set of the vocabulary data may be placed in the other set of vocabulary data to ensure more efficient and accurate speech recognition processing may take place.

  • Patent number: 7181399
Abstract: A system for recognizing connected digits in natural spoken dialogue includes a speech recognition processor that receives unconstrained fluent input speech and produces a string of words that can include a numeric language, and a numeric understanding processor that converts the string of words into a sequence of digits based on a set of rules. An acoustic model database utilized by the speech recognition processor includes a first set of hidden Markov models that characterize the acoustic features of numeric words and phrases, a second set of hidden Markov models that characterize the acoustic features of the remaining vocabulary words, and a filler model that characterizes the acoustic features of out-of-vocabulary utterances. An utterance verification processor verifies the accuracy of the string of words. A validation database stores a grammar, and a string validation processor outputs validity information based on a comparison of the sequence of digits with the grammar.
