  • Patent number: 8234589
Abstract: A computer device, such as a mobile phone or PDA for example, is able to output a message based upon selection of a corresponding sequence of symbol. Such symbols can be polysemous in nature and thus be associated with a plurality of different meanings depending upon other symbols sequenced therewith. By utilizing polysemous symbols, a relatively large number of sequences can be developed and associated with stored messages in the computer device. To aid a user in accessing a desired sequence or to aid in training the learning of stored sequences, for example, a category relating to at least two symbol sequences is fed back to the user upon pre-selecting a symbol; a theme relating to at least two symbol sequences is fed back to the user upon selecting a symbol and pre-selecting a next symbol; and/or a message associated with a sequence is fed back to the user upon selecting and/or pre-selecting at least one symbol completing a symbol sequence.

  • Patent number: 8225307
Abstract: A method, system, program product and signal bearing medium embodiments of the present invention provide for deploying software modules for software application use in a computer system thereby reducing load time as well as memory requirements. Deployment of a plurality of software modules and associated deployment descriptors into a software module depository and creation of a deployment information repository from the associated deployment descriptors occurs. A name service is initialized with information from the deployment information repository and a requested software module identifier is then mapped to a respective enabler. Having mapped the requested software module to an enabler, the respective software module is enabled for the software application use. On-demand deployment in this manner saves start-up time as well as initial and ongoing memory allocation.

  • Publication number: 20120123784
Abstract: An embodiment of the present application is directed to a method including providing a keyboard, including a plurality of keys, at least some of the keys including polysemous symbols which provide distinctive tactile feedback to a user; and accessing a word, phoneme or plural word message, based upon sequentially selected ones of the polysemous symbols providing distinctive tactile feedback. Another embodiment of the present application is directed to a system, including a keyboard, including a plurality of keys, at least some of the keys including polysemous symbols which provide distinctive tactile feedback to a user; and a processor to access a word, phoneme or plural word message, based upon sequentially selected ones of the polysemous symbols providing distinctive tactile feedback.

  • Patent number: 7765485
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to extending the user interface of an application, and provide a method, system and computer program product for extending the user interface of an application in a componentized application environment. In one embodiment of the invention, a user interface extension method for a componentized application environment can include specifying in markup a set of user interface controls and further specifying in markup an extension to a user interface control in the set. The markup for the user interface control can be substituted with the markup for the extension. Thereafter, the markup for the extension and the set of user interface controls can be provided to a set of corresponding control factories, absent the substituted user interface control, for generation into user interface control instances defining a user interface for the componentized application environment.

  • Publication number: 20100077380
Abstract: A method of generating a tool for merging customizations made to a first version of a software artifact when migrating to a second version includes instantiating a mapping element for each top-level element in a first code set that does not have a complementary element in a second code set; requesting and receiving merge instructions for each top-level element for which merge instructions are not provided in the corresponding mapping element; determining whether the merge instructions for each top-level element for which merge instructions are provided require that customizations be merged into the second code set; determining whether the merge instructions for each top-level element set that requires customizations to be merged are valid; requesting and receiving merge instructions for each top-level element for which the merge instructions are not valid; and storing the merge instructions received for each top-level element in the corresponding mapping element.

  • Publication number: 20080183460
Abstract: An apparatus, method and computer readable medium are disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the apparatus includes a keyboard including keys, a plurality of the keys each being associated with a polysemous symbol relating to a concept represented by a Chinese radical; and a processor, to determine whether or not a plurality of symbols, associated with a plurality of selected keys, form a sequence of symbols associated with at least one Chinese character, and, in response to determining that the plurality of selected symbols form a sequence of symbols associated with at least one Chinese character, to instruct output of the at least one Chinese character. A plurality of the keys may include each of a polysemous symbol, a Chinese radical, a Chinese measure word character and a Pinyin/Bopomofo letter, each associated with one another.

  • Patent number: 7318019
Abstract: A keyboard utilizing a matrix arrangement of word, character, numerical (print medium) keys to enhance a standard print medium keyboard. Instead of utilizing keys with letters and numbers, and instead of utilizing iconic symbols (or for use in combination with iconic symbols), the keyboard includes a plurality of keys arranged in at least two matrices. The keys of the first matrix are associated with each other in some manner, as are keys in at least one additional matrix. The matrices can include keys grouped together and grammatically associated with one another, by part of speech for example; and/or can include keys associated with a common color and a common number of selections necessary to access an associated word or word phrase. By use of such a keyboard, preferably in conjunction with a word output device, both manual and scanning input can be enhanced in a print medium environment, without the need to invest substantial time in memorizing complex iconic structures.

  • Patent number: 7194404
Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture utilize word chunks to enhance word prediction. At least one of selectable words and word chunks are displayed in response to receipt of an input character. Thereafter, a selection of a displayed word or word chunk is received, and in response to receiving selection of a displayed word chunk, selectable words including the selected word chunk are displayed. A word chunk includes a word portion used in the formation of other words and includes a predetermined identifier, identifying it as a word chuck. Thus, the combination of chunking of parts of agglutinated words in combination with letter input activations reduces the overall number of input activations to complete a word, and further reduces the amount of choices to select from at any point during retrieval of the word.

  • Patent number: 7076738
Abstract: A computer device, such as a mobile phone or PDA for example, is able to access an application program or command, based upon selection of corresponding sequences of symbols. Such symbols can be polysemous in nature and thus be associated with a plurality of different meanings depending upon other symbols sequenced therewith. By utilizing polysemous symbols, a relatively large number of sequences can be developed and associated with programs and/or commands of the computer device, with only a relatively small number of symbols displayed. In devices such as PDAs and mobile phone where display space is a premium, such access to commands and programs can be invaluable.

  • Publication number: 20040245970
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for a current control circuit that forces current sharing among paralleled power converters. Each power converter has an associated current control circuit, which includes a current amplifier and a coupling circuit. The current amplifier outputs a feedback signal to a voltage regulation error amplifier when the power converter output current falls below a predetermined threshold level. The error amplifier causes an increase in the power converter output voltage, forcing an increase in output current. Therefore, each power converter in a paralleled arrangement is regulated to provide a minimum level of output current, based on a predetermined threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5920303
Abstract: pe1A dynamic keyboard includes a plurality of keys, each with an associated symbol, which are dynamically redefinable to provide access to higher level keyboards. Based on sequenced symbols of keys sequentially activated, certain dynamic categories and subcategories can be accessed and keys corresponding thereto dynamically redefined. Dynamically redefined keys can include embellished symbols and/or newly displayed symbols. These dynamically redefined keys can then provide the user with the ability to easily access both core and fringe vocabulary words in a speech synthesis system.
