  • Patent number: 11896807
Abstract: Disclosed are plunger assemblies including various convertible plungers and methods of making the same. Each plunger assembly is configured for disposition within a barrel of a medical container, e.g., a syringe, and displaced within the barrel from an engagement position to a release position. The engagement position is configured to provide a compression seal between a storage sealing section of the plunger and an inner wall of the syringe barrel. In the release position, the compression seal is reduced or eliminated. Also disclosed are methods for making convertible plungers and assembling them into syringes, e.g., pre-filled syringes.

  • Patent number: 11590298
Abstract: An inhaler for facilitating inhalation of dry powder includes a body defining an interior space and a mouth piece. At least one annular member is positioned within the interior space and is rotatable with respect to the mouth piece. The at least one annular member includes a plurality of compartments. Each compartment defines a cavity configured to hold dry powder. Each compartment includes at least one flap and an opening configured to release the dry powder when the at least one flap is reconfigured from a closed position to an open position. The at least one flap covers the opening and inhibits the dry powder from being released from the cavity in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 10899053
Abstract: A process is provided for making a walled structure using an injection molding apparatus. The apparatus has a molding space formed between a mold cavity and an inner core disposed within the mold cavity. The molding space defines a shape of the structure. The process includes injecting molding material into the molding space, moving or retaining a portion of a movable impression member protruding from the inner core within a portion of the molding space so as to create a recess within an inner wall of the structure, and retracting the impression member into the inner core such that the impression member is cleared from the molding space. Precision control in forming the impression member is provided by a closed-loop configuration using a sensor that measures a molding space parameter (e.g., temperature), optionally in combination with a servo drive for activating the impression member.

  • Patent number: 9345846
Abstract: A molding assembly for molding a syringe with a needle embedded therein includes a first mold portion and a second mold portion. The second mold portion includes a molding block, an end plate and a needle holding block configured to hold the needle. The assembly moves between an opened position in which the first mold portion is displaced from the second mold portion, and a closed position in which the molding block and the end plate define a molding cavity configured to form a body portion of the syringe, and the first mold portion contacts the second mold portion to hold the needle holding block adjacent to the molding cavity, such that the needle is partially positioned within the molding cavity.

  • Patent number: 9284099
Abstract: A child-resistant package includes a seal for sealing a package and a latch for securing the package in a closed position. According to embodiments, the package includes a first shell portion having a first closed lip and a second shell portion having a second closed lip. According to embodiments, the seal may be formed by the engagement of an angled outer wall of the first closed lip with a bent or deformed thin wall of the second closed lip. The package may also incorporate one or more elastomeric ancillary face and/or side seals. The first and second shell portions may be joined by a hinge, such as a double hinge. Additionally, the insert may include a dispenser assembly that controls the dispensing of product from a product containing space to a dispenser receptacle. A spring may bias the latch in a locked or rest position.

  • Patent number: 8881942
Abstract: A package comprises a latch including first and second legs and an actuating portion. The first and second legs are joined at an angle. The actuator portion of the first leg is positioned to be displaced generally laterally to displace the second leg generally longitudinally to release the latch. In another embodiment the package has base wells on the inside surface. A generally flat marginal sealing surface encircles the first and second base wells. The wells of the base and/or lid are covered with a cover sheet to close them. Still another embodiment is a child-resistant container comprising a shell, two drawers, a stop, and a latch. The drawers are prevented from sliding apart past a limit of travel when one drawer is open sufficiently to provide access to its contents and the other drawer is not.
