  • Publication number: 20040120974
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of preparing easily diluted powder personal care concentrates. The dilutions of these concentrates form useful, topical personal care products meant to be applied to the skin and the hair. The concentrate may also contain “active” substances that facilitate the function of the final diluted product. Additionally, the powder form of the concentrate obviates the need for anti-microbial preservation and facilitates easy transport.

  • Patent number: 5578642
Abstract: There is provided a composition and process for preparing self-emulsifying or emollient agents comprising reacting from about 1 mole of azelaic acid with from about 1 to about 1.25 moles of a C12-18 fatty alcohol to form an azelaic acid monoester having the general formula I-IV: ##STR1## wherein R is a C12-18 fatty alcohol, and the product contains from about 40 to about 50 weight percent of (I), from about 50 to about 60 weight percent of (II), from about 1 to about 2 weight percent of (III), and from about 0 to about 1 weight percent of (IV), all weights being based on the weight of said self-emulsifying or emollient agent.

  • Patent number: 4978526
Abstract: Alkyl or alkylamido dimethyl 2,3-dihydroxypropyl ammonium salts may be used in hair and skin conditioning compositions and methods to provide improved manageability, static control, and ease of wet and dry combing when applied to hair, particularly human scalp hair, and smooth and lubricated surfaces with pleasant after-feel when applied in topical conditioner compositions to the human skin. The hair conditioning formulations may include styling, cleaning and rinsing compositions such as gels, mousses, sprays, lotions, glazes and shampoos, while the skin conditioning compositions may include moisturizing creams and lotions, bath oils, liquid cleaners, body mousses or bath gels, as well as alcoholic or hydroalcoholic astringents, toners, pre-electric shave conditioners, after-bath splashes and fragrance products. A preferred quaternary according to the invention is oleamidoproyl dimethyl 2,3-dihydroxypropyl ammonium chloride, which forms exceptionally stable, clear, dilutable gels.
