Abstract: Described herein are novel light absorbing conjugated polymeric electron donor materials for organic photovoltaic devices and other applications. In one embodiment, the polymer structure comprises a conjugated electron rich donor unit with an imine functionality at the bridgehead position and a conjugated electron deficient unit in the polymer backbone arranged in an alternating fashion. Monomers suitable for making the polymers, and devices utilizing the polymers, are also disclosed.
