  • Publication number: 20070248810
Abstract: This invention relates to, in one aspect, a printable, two-side coated polymer film comprising a) a polymer substrate including a first side and a second side; b) a back-side coating on the second side of the substrate, the back-side coating comprising 1) an ionomer, and 2) particles of a colloidal mineral, a majority by weight of the colloidal mineral particles having an overall mean diameter of not greater than about 1.0 micron and preferably not greater than 0.1 micron; and c) a front-side coating on the first side of the substrate, wherein the front-side coating is printable.

  • Publication number: 20070036999
Abstract: Polymeric film structures incorporating at least one coating comprising a cross-linked EVOH copolymer and coating solutions suitable for use on polymeric films comprising at least one EVOH copolymer and at least one cross-linker are provided. The coated films may be single or multi-layered film structures. The films may also be metallized. The coated films exhibit beneficial water vapor and oxygen transmission rates. The coated films may also exhibit the beneficial barrier characteristics under conditions of high humidity. The coated films are suitable for packaging applications. The coating solutions exhibit beneficial stability characteristics over extended time periods.

  • Publication number: 20060029824
Abstract: Heat sealable polymeric films are found to have low minimum seal temperatures and beneficial hot tack performance. The polymeric films incorporate at least one heat sealable coating on at least one surface. The coating incorporates an ethylene copolymer and an acid modified tackifier resin. The coating also provides positive blocking resistance to other coatings and inks, particularly to acrylic inks.

  • Publication number: 20030157354
Abstract: A transparent, coated, heat-shrinkable film having controlled shrinkability which includes a biaxially oriented substrate having a polypropylene blend core layer and a water based coating. The shrink during the application on packaging machines is achieved through the balanced MD-TD (machine direction and transverse direction) film retraction in and near the sealed areas. The substrate can also include outer layers of a propylene-ethylene-butylene terpolymer disposed on either side of the polypropylene core layer or on either side of additional intermediate layers that may be disposed between the outer layers and the core layer. The invention also includes a process for making this coated heat-shrinkable film. The coated film is formed under controlled temperature and tension conditions to produce a packaging film having shrinkage within a controlled shrinkability range.
