  • Patent number: 7147738
Abstract: A process for producing a component with an inner fabric includes layering at least two layers of fabric one on top of the other. A layer of plastic in powder form or sheet form is introduced between respective pairs of neighboring layers of fabric. The plastic has a melting point corresponding to at most the melting point and/or the decomposing temperature of the fabric layers. The fabric layers and plastic layer are heated and pressed at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure, during which the plastic layer is at least partially melted. After reaching the desired final form, the partially-melted plastic is cooled, thereby bonding the fabric layers to one another. The cooled plastic is arranged between the layers of fabric and, in particular, at least partially between the fibers of the fabric layers.

  • Patent number: 6830286
Abstract: A fiber composite crash structure has a hollow body which is produced entirely or partially from fiber composite material. Within the hollow body a web element is arranged running essentially in the longitudinal direction thereof. The web element is connected to the hollow body essentially in the contact region of web element and hollow body such that the structure is reinforced by reinforcing elements.

  • Patent number: 6327827
Abstract: A flat cast structural member, particularly a cast metal part or a cast plastic part wherein the surface of the structural member is covered by a thin metal sheet or a plastic layer. An adhesive or coupling layer is provided between the thin metal sheet or plastic layer, whereby under the influence of heat, the adhesive or coupling layer absorbs any surface unevenness or irregularities on the structural member.

  • Patent number: 5924764
Abstract: A firewall for a vehicle body including stable rigid side parts in the shape of an inverted U and a deformation insert connected in the part of the open central area of the inverted U. The deformation insert allows at least partial intrusion of assemblies from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment in the event of a vehicle collision. This design permits a shorter front end.
