  • Patent number: 11572944
Abstract: A floating spacer assembly for a gear mounted on a shaft, such as a planet gear mounted to a planet carrier, is disclosed. The gear may be mounted on the shaft with a pair of roller bearings with inner races and bearing rollers, and a gear bore having a gear groove defined therein functioning as the outer races of the roller bearings. The floating spacer assembly may include an annular spacer ring having one or more sector slots circumferentially spaced around the spacer ring, and a spacer sector disposed within each of the sector slots and extending radially outward from the spacer ring and into the gear groove when the floating spacer assembly is installed between the roller bearings. The spacer sectors may engage surfaces of the gear groove and the spacer ring may engage the bearing rollers to limit axial movement of the gear relative to the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20160178022
Abstract: A wet brake assembly and method for cooling separator plates in a wet brake assembly are disclosed. The wet brake assembly may comprise a hub rotatable about an axis and a brake pack. The hub may include a plurality of legs that define a plurality of troughs in the hub. The brake pack may include a plurality of friction disks disposed around and rotatable with the hub, and a plurality of stationary separator plates. Each separator plate may define a gap with at least one of the friction disks. Each trough may define an unobstructed axial flow path between the hub and the brake pack, and each gap may define a radial flow path across the brake pack. An intersection between the axial flow path and the radial flow path is configured to change positions with rotation of the hub and the friction disks.

  • Publication number: 20150274216
Abstract: A skid plate assembly for an axle housing of a machine is disclosed. The skid plate assembly includes a skid plate, at least one gusset member, and a hitch member. The skid plate includes an impact side and a mount side. The at least one gusset member includes an attachment portion and an impact portion. The attachment portion is integrally attached to the mount side of the skid plate. The impact portion is positioned to overlay the axle housing, when the skid plate is in an assembled position. The hitch member includes a first end and a second end. The first end is fixable to the axle housing and the second end removeably retains the skid plate. Further, the impact portion of the gusset member transfers the impact force to the axle housing in response to an impact to the impact side of the skid plate.

  • Publication number: 20140037234
Abstract: A bearing assembly for an oscillation joint on a machine having a tandem wheel drive. The bearing assembly rotatably supports an oscillating hub rotatably connected to a shaft. The bearing assembly includes a frustoconical inboard bearing having a first bearing surface and a frustoconical outboard bearing having a second bearing surface disposed thereon positioned such that the first and second bearing surfaces form a generally v-shaped bearing interface between the shaft and the hub.

  • Patent number: 8622407
Abstract: A tandem power train assembly including an input member, a tandem output assembly, and an oscillation joint assembly drivingly coupled to the input member. The oscillation joint assembly is structured and arranged to drivably transmit rotation to the tandem output assembly through the oscillation joint. The oscillation joint includes an inboard bearing defining a first frustoconical ring having a first bearing surface disposed thereon and an outboard bearing defining a second frustoconical ring having a second bearing surface disposed thereon with the inboard bearing and outboard bearing structured and arranged to rotatably support the tandem output assembly.
