  • Patent number: 10374968
Abstract: An apparatus in one embodiment comprises at least one processing device having a processor coupled to a memory. The processing device implements a first workload distribution node configured to communicate with multiple distributed data processing clusters over at least one network. The workload distribution node is further configured to receive a data processing request, to identify particular ones of the distributed data processing clusters that are suitable for handling at least a portion of the data processing request, and to assign the data tasks to one or more of the distributed data processing clusters. Results of performance of the data tasks from the one or more assigned distributed data processing clusters are received by the first workload distribution node and aggregated into a response that is returned to a source of the data processing request. The source of the data processing request in some embodiments is another workload distribution node.

  • Patent number: 10091100
Abstract: An apparatus in one embodiment comprises a processing platform configured to implement network functions virtualization infrastructure. The network functions virtualization infrastructure comprises a virtual switch configured to communicate with a plurality of endpoint devices over a first network. The processing platform further comprises a message buffer, and an uplink transmitter configured to communicate with cloud infrastructure over a second network. The virtual switch is configured to separate traffic received from the endpoint devices over the first network into at least first and second portions. The first portion comprises IoT data traffic from a first subset of the endpoint devices that are identified as respective IoT endpoint devices, and is provided to the message buffer.

  • Patent number: 9201770
Abstract: In a computer a graphical user interface (GUI) portion of an application program is instantiated as a core module and variable modules. One of a set of distinct versions of a variable module is selected and for interoperating with the core module, where the versions differ by respective implementations of a user-visible feature. Usage of the GUI involving the user-visible feature is monitored, recorded and reported, including collection of performance information for operations potentially affected by the use of the selected version rather than another version of the variable module. The performance information is transmitted to an evaluation system that collects performance information from a sample population of systems using all the distinct versions of the variable module, and applies statistical analysis to the performance information to yield statistical performance measures for the different implementations, usable to decide whether wider-scale official deployment of a new implementation is desirable.

  • Patent number: 8904047
Abstract: Described are techniques for processing data operations. A request is sent from an application to perform a data operation on a key-value data store. The request is in accordance with a first application-level protocol for performing the data operation on the key-value data store and includes a first key of a first key-value pair used by a data storage system to perform the data operation. The request is received at the data storage system such as by a key-value server that processes requests in accordance with the first application-level protocol for the key-value data store. In response to receiving the request at the data storage system, first processing is performed on the data storage system for the data operation and a response is returned to the application.
