  • Publication number: 20200393205
Abstract: The present invention comprises a duplex thermal transfer pack. The pack includes a large bag containing many smaller sub bags. Each sub bag contains plain water. The volume within the large bag but outside the sub bags contains a second substance. This second substance freezes with a consistency akin to crushed ice or packed snow. The second substance allows the thermal transfer pack to remain malleable even when its contents are frozen.

  • Publication number: 20200375773
Abstract: A knee brace with an inflatable air bladder. In a post-surgical embodiment the brace includes a rigid shell that fits behind the knee. The rigid shell includes an inflatable air bladder on its posterior surface. A wrap is placed around the knee and the air bladder. When the air bladder is inflated, the knee is urged in the posterior direction—thereby decreasing flexion. In a rehabilitative embodiment, a rigid shell is placed over the anterior portion of the knee. An air bladder is positioned between the rigid shell and the knee. The rigid shell is held in place using the securing straps of the rehabilitative brace. When the air bladder is inflated the knee is again urged in the posterior direction.

  • Publication number: 20200113724
Abstract: A hip joint orthotic that can be used in stages. In the first stage the orthotic includes a stiff relatively brace assembly that can limit the amount of allowed flexion, extension, abduction, and adduction. In the second stage the relatively stiff brace can be removed and the orthotic can be used as a soft wrap. In both stages the orthotic is configured to easily mount and retain a thermal pack in a desired position or positions. In many instances the thermal pack will be a cold pack, but in some cases a hot pack may be used as well.

  • Publication number: 20180325724
Abstract: The present invention comprises a cryo therapy system suitable for use on a patient's lumbar area. A belt is provided with a front closure and a posterior window. The belt is looped around the patient's abdomen, with the posterior window lying over the lumbar spine. The front closure is secured using VELCRO fasteners. A pocket is preferably provided on each end of the belt. The pockets allow the user to more easily apply and tighten the belt. A cover panel is provided to selectively cover and close the posterior window in the belt. The cover panel includes an inward facing surface which is at least partially covered in loop material. One or more cold packs are provided. Each cold pack includes a hook panel configured to engage the loop material on the inward facing surface of the cover panel.

  • Patent number: 10045876
Abstract: An adjustable wrist orthotic suitable for the treatment of wrist fractures and similar injuries. The orthotic preferably includes a top panel joined to a bottom panel. The top and bottom panels are preferably joined by a radius connector which spans a “radius gap” between the top and bottom panel. An “ulna gap” may optionally be provided between the top and bottom panels as well. If an ulna gap is present, then an ulna connector is preferably provided to span this gap. A radius lace assembly is provided for adjusting the closure of the radius gap. The radius lace assembly is secured by placing a radius tab attached to a radius lace in a desired position on the exterior of the orthotic. Varying the placement position of the radius tab varies the taper of the radius gap so that the orthotic can accommodate wide variations in forearm geometry.

  • Publication number: 20170086446
Abstract: A modular lower leg and hoof wrap configured to hold one or more therapeutic devices proximate an animal's hoof. The invention is intended primarily for use with horses. The components attach to a sole, which is intended to be positioned beneath the animal's hoof. One or more retention panels extend upward from the sole. A first wrap panel and a second wrap panel also extend upward form the sole. Elastic and VELCRO attachment features are preferably used so that each of the components may be positioned in a suitable location for a particular animal's anatomy. Other closure devices, such as buckles or snaps, could also be used.

  • Patent number: 9498374
Abstract: A modular shoulder cooling system. A retention panel is affixed over the shoulder. The retention panel is hald in position by a pair of straps attached to a belt around the user's waist. At least a portion of the inward facing surface of the retention panel is covered in loop material. Bags containing cooling medium are furnished. These are referred to as “cold packs.” Each cold pack has a first side with a soft, tactilly pleasing surface. This first surface is intended to face the user. Each cold pack also has a second side intented to face the inward facing surface of the retention panel. This second side includes one or more hook panels configured to engage the loop material on the inward facing surface of the retention panel. The user can attach a cold pack or packs to the rentention panel by pressing the hook panels on each cold pack against the loop material on the retention panel. Thus, no pockets are required.

  • Patent number: 9498369
Abstract: A modular sling and pillow system for setting an appropriate abduction angle and external rotation angle in a shoulder joint. The patient's forearm is secured in a sling. An abduction pillow is fastened to the patient's side, just above the waist and facing the elbow contained within the sling. An appropriate external rotation wedge is then attached to the abduction pillow. The external rotation wedge is preferably fastened to the abduction pillow using VELCRO fasteners so that it can be easily removed and replaced. The abduction pillow pivots the upper arm outward. The external rotation wedge rotates the upper arm by moving the wrist out away from the body. The sling is attached to the external rotation wedge so that an integral brace comprising the sling, the external rotation wedge, and the abduction pillow is created.

  • Patent number: 9463109
Abstract: An adjustable wrist orthotic suitable for the treatment of wrist fractures and similar injuries. The orthotic includes a panel which encircles the hand, the wrist, and a portion of the forearm. An adjustment break is included to allow the adjustment of the circumference of the orthotic. The adjustment break is selectively closed and secured using a plurality of straps secured by VELCRO or other suitable fasteners. Each strap begins on one side of the adjustment break, then passes through a strap ring on the opposite side of the adjustment break, then loops back over itself. Each strap is secured by pressing the looped portion back on the strap itself. The VELCRO then engages to secure the strap in place. A 4-way elastic panel is included in the anchor point of a securing strap. This 4-way panel allows the strap to bend laterally in order to accommodate variations in forearm taper.

  • Patent number: 9107738
Abstract: The present invention provides methods to facilitate installation of a lumbar belt. The methods involve looping a belt around a person's abdomen. The belt provides a pocket on each end of the belt to allow the user easier application and tightening of the belt. In the preferred embodiment, each pocket is divided into two sections—thumb pocket and finger pocket. The user places one hand located within its corresponding pocket around the abdomen positioning the belt. The user then places the other hand located in its corresponding pocket over to meet the hand on the abdomen. The belt then is secured and remains in position around the abdomen. A cover panel also may be provided as a part of the belt to allow convenient access to a person's lumbar area.
