The edging guide subassembly (20) includes a plurality of rotatable guide wheels (64, 66 and 68) configured to engage bordering surfaces (C) and (A) to maintain an applicator pad (50) at a uniform spacing from the surfaces (C,A) when applying paint to a wall (W). The edging guide (20) enables the edger (10) to provide smooth, continuous and uniform lines of demarcation along joints (JA JC) without undesirably applying paint to the bordering surfaces (A,C).
