The photo-resist layer is developed. The conductive layer is etched using the photo-resist layer as a mask. The photo-resist layer is removed.

The liquid crystal material is transported by capillary action to the upper surface where it is contacted with an injection hole of the cell. The method provides for removal of air from the liquid crystal material and injection of the liquid crystal material in an isotropic state.
