  • Publication number: 20100162590
Abstract: A sole (1) for a pedestrian's shoe or a slipover device (18) for such a shoe has a base consisting of a non-woven microfibre material made of thermoplastic polyester PVC knobs or polyamide. The microfibre material is exposed in an arcuate section (5) in the front foot portion (2), in the mid-foot portion (3) and in a wheel-shaped section (6) in the heel portion (4) of the sole. An elastomer material is deposited as rounded knobs onto the microfibre material in a fore portion (7) of the front foot portion (2) and in a ring (8) and sectors (9) in the heel portion (4) of the sole (1). A PVC material is deposited, also in the form of rounded knobs, in a transverse band (10) in the front foot portion (2) and in a larger part (11) of the heel portion (4) so as to surround the ring (8). The use of the microfibre material as a means of enhancing friction on an icy surface is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5863644
Abstract: Woven or laid structures comprising at least two systems of parallel threads, at least one of these thread systems having more than 10 threads per centimeter and comprising at least 10%, based on the thread system, of hybrid yarns comprising reinforcing filaments and lower melting matrix filaments composed of thermoplastic polymers. In such woven or laid structures, the matrix component can be melted to form textile sheet materials of adjustable gas and/or liquid permeability, which are especially useful for manufacturing airbags.

  • Patent number: 5713601
Abstract: A safety belt is made of a fabric of high-tenacity filament yarns made of phosphorus-modified copolyester having a yarn linear density of less than 2000 dtex, having a single-fiber linear density of less than or equal to 25 dtex and having a breaking elongation of less than 30%. The phosphorus-modified copolyester contains a bifunctional phosphorus compound in an amount of 0.1% to 5% by weight, based on the amount of phosphorus, in the polymer chain.

  • Patent number: 5518814
Abstract: Described is a flat multifilament yarn with minimal opening tendency of the mutually bound-together filaments, expressed by the quantityVS(K.sub.F)>42%and with good compaction, expressed by the quantity(VG.sub.mean /VG.sub.max) * 100%>45%the VG quantities being degrees of intermingling determined using the Rothschild needle tester model 2040, VG.sub.mean being the arithmetic mean of 20 needle test measurements, and VG.sub.max being the maximum value of 20 needle test measurements. VS(K.sub.F) is the intermingling stability at a given total yarn tension K.sub.F determined by measuring the opening tendency of the flat multifilament yarn under dynamic-mechanical stress by a specific method.

  • Patent number: 5421377
Abstract: A process for producing woven fabrics which includes the steps of i) producing a stabilized size-free flat multifilament yarn, ii) forming a warp form the flat multifilament yarn of step i), III) leasing the warp formed in step ii) into the heddles of the shafts and into the reed of a weaving machine, and iv) producing a woven fabric through the insertion of warp threads in the transverse direction to the coarse of the warp at a weft insertion frequency of at least 300 picks/minute. The tension on the stabilized and size-free flat multifilament yarn does not exceed 1.0 cN/dtex. Also described is a woven fabric having warp threads based on stabilized flat multifilament yarns woven without size, whose warp thread density is more than 30 ends/cm and whose weft thread density is at least 30 picks/cm.

  • Patent number: 5140852
Abstract: There are described a process and apparatus for measuring the degree of filament intermingling of an intermingled multifilament yarn. The intermingled yarn is moved through a self-conveying fluid jet (air jet). The yarn substantially fills out the jet channel and emerges from the jet in a virtually tensionless state. Owing to the pressure difference at the jet outlet, noncohesive yarn zones expand explosively in the manner of a balloon. After expansion, the yarn passes before a sensor means, preferably an electronic camera, which detects the lightness differences or light diffraction phenomena due to the yarn filaments and sends as a function thereof a signal to a signal processing means. The method of measurement of the invention makes it possible to obtain very accurate information about the nature of the intermingling (spot type or continuous) and also about the geometry of intermingling (for example number and spacing of intermingling nodes in the case of spot type intermingling).

  • Patent number: 4990793
Abstract: Method for measuring the degree of intermingling of yarns where an optical sensor is used to register intermingled and non-intermingled yarn sections, which comprises performing the measurement on a yarn which has been laid with no or low tension onto a moving support which transports the yarn past the optical sensor at a selectable, constant speed at a distance suitable for registering the yarn properties, and an apparatus for carrying out this method.
