  • Patent number: 8390556
Abstract: A level shifter for use in LCD display applications is provided which includes a group of separate channels each with a signal input and a signal output and with channel control circuitry supporting gate voltage shaping for improving image quality. The level shifter further has a number of flicker clock inputs. The channel control circuitry of each particular channel in the group comprises logic circuitry combining all of said flicker clock inputs with the signal input of the particular channel and signal inputs form other channels into a gate voltage shaping enable signal for the control circuitry of the particular channel. With this configuration it is possible to use the same level shifter IC with only one flicker clock signal for all phases, regardless of how many, without the need for an additional synchronization signal, or multiple flicker clock signals as is conventional.

  • Publication number: 20060238471
Abstract: A driving device and driving method for a display is provided that enhances the difference between the brightness displayed by the low gray-scale data and the brightness displayed by the high gray-scale data. The driving device and method include dividing input gray-scale data into high gray-scale output data and low gray-scale output data and allowing brightness higher than the brightness in the highest gray scale to be displayed by the use of the high gray-scale output data. Accordingly, side visibility of the display is enhanced and a display characteristic of a display is improved. In addition, the driving device and driving method includes enhancing an AVDD voltage applied to a gray-scale voltage generator to prevent the brightness of the display from decreasing as a whole.

  • Publication number: 20060164354
Abstract: A display device includes a display panel and a voltage generating part. The display panel includes a switching element, a main pixel section, a coupling capacitor and a sub pixel section. The main pixel section is electrically connected to the switching element. The coupling capacitor has a first end electrically connected to the switching element. The sub pixel section is electrically connected to a second end of the coupling capacitor. The voltage generating part controls data voltages corresponding to a gray-scale in a range from a low gray-scale to a high gray-scale that corresponds to a saturation voltage of the sub pixel section for displaying an image. The data voltages are applied to the display panel. Therefore, the viewing angle and the luminance are improved.

  • Publication number: 20060114209
Abstract: In a gate line driving circuit, a display device, a driving apparatus and a driving method, a shift register sequentially shifts and outputs a high level data in response to a carry signal. A level shifter level-shifts an externally provided first voltage based on the high level data. An output buffer buffers the level-shifted first voltage and outputs the buffered level-shifted first voltage to a delay. The delay delays the buffered level-shifted first voltage and outputs the delayed level-shifted first voltage to a gate line. Thus, the delay applied to output stages of the gate line driving circuit act to delay the gate signal, thereby preventing deterioration of display quality caused by a kickback voltage.
