Abstract: An adjustable linear friction device for exercising the forearm, wrist and hand, comprising: a disc rotatably mounted on a housing, with a circumferential edge and opposed faces; a friction band extending between an anchor and biasing means, the friction band disposed against the circumferential edge of the disc; a shaft extending outwardly from the opposed faces, with handles on the shaft for rotating the shaft to effect rotation of the disc. Rotating the disc in a first direction results in a first normal friction between the friction band and the circumferential edge, and rotating the disc in a second and opposite direction results in a second, different normal friction. The device can be used to exercise the forearm and wrist joint in supination/pronation, extension/flexion, and radial/ulnar deviation motions through the full range of motion.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for the anchoring of a pipe in a ground hole, such in an oil or gas well application. A first pipe is extended down the hole with its bottom end above the bottom of the hole, defining a gap. A cover plate is sealed to the top end of the first pipe. A second pipe is inserted through a throat in the cover plate such that its bottom end is in proximity to the bottom end of the first pipe. The inner annular space between the first and second pipes is filled with water and cementitious slurry is then pumped down the second pipe, to ascend in the outer annular space between the first pipe and walls of the hole until the outer annular space is substantially filled with the cementitious material. The second pipe can then be removed. Also disclosed is a cover plate apparatus for use in the anchoring of a pipe in a ground hole in accordance with the disclosed method.

Abstract: An inflatable flowing hole plug system including two fluid inflatable hole plugs, having an upper and a lower plug, a connector pipe for connecting these plugs and allowing fluid communication between them, a valve system for controlling the inflation of the plugs and an external fluid supply apparatus for inflating the plugs is disclosed.
