  • Publication number: 20100302224
Abstract: A plasma display device is provided. In the plasma display device, a plurality of scan electrodes are divided into one or more scan electrode groups, and different driving signals are applied to the scan electrode groups. More specifically, a minimum voltage detected during a set-down period of a reset period is made to be discrepant from a scan voltage, thereby reducing the amount by which wall charge is erased and stabilizing an address discharge. In addition, different driving signals are applied to a plurality of scan electrodes, and thus, it is possible to stabilize an address discharge even in scan electrodes to which a scan signal is applied late.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus. In an aspect, the plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel including a plurality of scan electrodes and sustain electrodes formed on an upper substrate, and a plurality of address electrodes formed on a lower substrate, and a driver for supplying driving signals to the plurality of electrodes. The plurality of scan electrodes may be divided into first and second groups. An address period may include first and second group scan periods in which scan signals are supplied to the first and second groups, respectively. Scan bias voltages supplied to the first and second groups in at least one of the first and second group scan periods may be different from each other. Time points at which data signals are supplied to first and second of the plurality of address electrodes in at least one of the first and second group scan periods may be different from each other.

  • Publication number: 20070216603
Abstract: A method of driving a plasma display apparatus is disclosed. In the method, a first pulse of a negative polarity is applied to a scan electrode prior to a reset period. A second pulse is applied to the scan electrode during the reset period. The second pulse gradually rises from a first voltage to a second voltage with a first slop, and then gradually rises from the second voltage to a third voltage with a second slope. The first slope is different from the second slope.

  • Publication number: 20070216604
Abstract: A method of driving a plasma display apparatus is provided. In the method, a positive first pulse and a negative second pulse are alternatively supplied to a first electrode in a sustain period. A second electrode sustains a ground level in a second electrode while the positive first pulse is supplied to the first electrode. Then, the absolute voltage values of the positive first pulse and the negative second pulse are controlled to be different.

  • Publication number: 20070216605
Abstract: A method of driving a plasma display apparatus is disclosed. In the method, a scan pulse is applied to a scan electrode during an address period, and a data pulse corresponding to the scan pulse is applied to an address electrode during the address period. The scan pulse falls from a scan reference voltage to a first intermediate voltage, is maintained at the first intermediate voltage, and falls from the first intermediate voltage to a scan voltage.

  • Patent number: 6782106
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting sound are provided. The apparatus includes an external sound receiver for receiving external sounds and converting them into an external sound signal, a volume controller for outputting sound signals only if each of the volumes of the sound signal of a sound producing device and the sound signal of the external sound receiver exceeds a predetermined reference level, and a mixer for mixing the sound signal of the sound producing device with the sound signals output from the volume controller and outputting the result. The apparatus mixes ambient sounds having volume exceeding a certain volume with the sound of a sound producing device and transmits the mixed sounds to a pair of headphones which are a sound receiver for a user, thereby allowing the user to hear an ambient alarm sound while the user is listening to the sound of the sound producing device and making it possible for the user to audibly detect danger. Consequently, the apparatus provides user safety.

  • Patent number: 5761633
Abstract: In a speech codec algorithm for low speed transmission, a first linear prediction analysis is performed for an input speech signal and a second linear prediction analysis is performed for a residual signal generated from the first linear prediction analysis. Low-pass-filtering utilizing a cut-off frequency of 2 kHz is employed to generate second linear prediction coefficients. The second linear prediction coefficients are transmitted to a receiver, together with the first linear prediction coefficients. A baseband signal is generated for the first linear prediction coefficients using the second linear prediction coefficients during reproduction of the speech signal, and the speech signal is restored using the baseband signal and the first linear prediction coefficients. Thus, a high-quality restored tone can be provided with a low-cost digital signal processor.
