  • Publication number: 20240085292
Abstract: A test fixture is provided for dropping an article from a height to a floor, with the article oriented in relation to the floor at a select angle. The fixture includes a column frame, an overhead beam, a carriage, first and second guy wires, first and second spools, and first and second chains. The frame supports first and second guide arms on opposing sides. The overhead beam has a distance span substantially parallel to the floor. The carriage is disposed substantially parallel to the floor and has first and second opposing guides separated by the span. The guy wires attach to the beam separated the span and pass through the guide arms. The first and second spools to receive the corresponding guy wires. The first and second chains suspend the article from the carriage above the floor. Upon release of the guy wires, the carriage falls until contact with the guide arms while the article contacts the floor.

  • Patent number: 11920924
Abstract: The invention is a method and measuring device configured for measurement by comparing the an area of interest or object with an object of comparable size and/or shape. This invention may be most useful when recording and classifying evidence. The measuring device should be portable and comprised of a flat, straight elongated member with measuring indicia along one or both the measuring edges, wherein the measuring indicia corresponds with values with labels of the standard sizes of comparable objects. The measuring indicia extends along the length of the measuring edge and the labels indicate the closest sized object. Other measuring indicia along the length of the measuring edge may also correspond to standard measurement units. The method should directly correlate a measurement with a comparable object for the purpose of recording evidence.

  • Patent number: 11867000
Abstract: A swivel stand apparatus includes a swivel tower and a swivel mounting frame to which the swivel tower preferably removably attaches. Non-wheeled friction reducing sliders preferably form an interface between the swivel mounting frame and the frame. The flanged beams are part of a basket which can receive and connect to either a jack base or a flange base. The basket can have legs of different lengths to allow connection of the basket to the bases in only one orientation to prevent incorrect connection of the basket to the base. The basket preferably includes specially configured pipe racks for holding vertically positioned pipe or pipe joints. The jack base preferably includes multiple legs to connect to legs of the basket, and two legs to contact and support the basket without necessarily being mechanically interlocked thereto.

  • Patent number: 11792476
Abstract: Systems and methods for disambiguation of an ambiguous entity in a search query based on the gaze of a user. These systems and methods may be implemented by a media guidance application (e.g., executed by user equipment associated with the user). In some aspects, the media guidance application may monitor the gaze of the user and attempt to disambiguate the ambiguous entity based on an area of the screen the user viewed while issuing the search query. If the media guidance application receives an indication that it did not disambiguate the ambiguous entity in the search query correctly, the media guidance application may increase the area of the screen that the user viewed in order to find an additional entity. This may allow the media guidance application to quickly and accurately find the correct answer to the user's search query.

  • Publication number: 20230328324
Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for providing streamlined access to media assets of interest to a user. The method includes determining that a supplemental viewing device, through which a user views a field of view, is directed at a first field of view. The method further involves detecting that the supplemental viewing device is now directed at a second field of view, and determining that a media consumption device is within the second field of view. A first media asset of interest to the user that is available for consumption via the media consumption device is identified, and the supplemental viewing device generates a visual indication in the second field of view. The visual indication indicates that the first media asset is available for consumption via the media consumption device, and the visual indication tracks a location of the media consumption device in the second field of view.

  • Publication number: 20230300234
Abstract: A system may include an electronic device that includes an enclosure having a transparent cover. The electronic device may also include a display positioned below the transparent cover and configured to display a first graphical user interface and a second graphical user interface different from the first graphical user interface, and a touch sensor positioned below the transparent cover and configured to detect touch inputs applied to the transparent cover. The system may also include a protective case that includes a shell defining a cavity and configured to at least partially cover the enclosure of the electronic device when the electronic device is positioned in the cavity, and a near-field wireless communication antenna coupled to the shell and detectable by the electronic device. In response to detecting the near-field wireless communication antenna, the electronic device may be configured to switch from the first graphical user interface to the second graphical user interface.

  • Publication number: 20230291975
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting custom navigation options are described herein. In some embodiments, the media guidance application displays a first portion of a media asset, and receives a user selection of an entity depicted within the portion. The media guidance application identifies a playlist of media asset portions associated with the entity, and generates for display a transport bar associated with the entity comprising an indicator identifying the entity and only one or more regions associated with the playlist of media asset portions. The media guidance application then receives a second user selection, and generates for display a second portion of the media asset associated with the entity in response. In some embodiments, the media guidance application identifies the playlist by searching a custom presentation database for entries associated with the entity, and retrieves the playlist from the identified entry.

  • Publication number: 20230283845
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein for recommending a media asset based on a geographic location at which that media asset was frequently consumed. For example, the system may monitor a location, such as New York City or Times Square, to determine popular media assets watched there, such as “The Avengers,” and when another user visits New York City, the system may then notify the user that the movie, such as “The Avengers,” is associated with New York City. The system stores the geographic locations associated with the media asset in the database based on the consumption of the media asset so that other users may be notified which media assets are associated with each geographic location.
