  • Patent number: 5030033
Abstract: An underground tank storage (UTS) system includes one or more storage tanks disposed within a vault. The vault may comprise a plurality of concrete sections arranged in mirror image about a horizontal mid-plane. Center sections are U-shaped, having a horizontal panel and end walls, and are arranged in upright and inverted pairs. End sections are also U-shaped with an additional wall extending between the legs of the section. These likewise are arranged in upright and inverted pairs. The vault sections are sealingly secured together with grout keys and joint tape. A suitable material resistant coating is disposed on the lower interior surface. An inert gas atmosphere is maintained within the vault. The inert gas provides an oxygen and moisture free atmosphere which improves the service life of the tanks, enhances safety and leak detection capability and inhibits the likelihood of combustion. Vapor or liquid leak sensors are provided to sense and respond to a tank leak which develops in the vault.

  • Patent number: 4969626
Abstract: An adjustable culvert form facilitates fabrication of rectilinear culverts and skewed culverts that is, culverts having an angular relationship between sidewalls and span. It is particularly useful for the production of three-sided culverts. The form generally defines a parallelogram having low, vertically standing sidewalls which are interconnected at adjacent ends by hinges. The hinges may be either a conventional pair of interleaved pivots coupled by a removable pin or a unique expandable, multiple pin hinge configuration. The form is placed on a smooth horizontal surface such as a previously poured concrete slab, the surface forming the largest continuous surface of the product. The culvert is cast in an inverted orientation. The width and length of the formed product may be adjusted by the incorporation or removal of sidewall panels. Triangular sidewall panels are secured to end adjacent regions of the sidewall panels to form haunches.

  • Patent number: 4817318
Abstract: A demountable road sign intended primarily for transient utilization includes a collapsible ground engaging support, a pivoted pantograph-type frame and a rolled, self-storing sign. The support preferably includes an elongate rod or similar structure which may be maintained in a vertical orientation by a plurality of attached legs. The legs are movable from a stored position generally adjacent the elongate rod to a deployed position in which they extend uniformly and obliquely away from the rod and engage the ground. Suitable structures for receiving the elongate rod support and securing the frame thereto form a portion of the frame. The frame includes a pair of preferably equal length arms pivotally interconnected at their mid points and a sign receiving device disposed on one end of each arm. The ends of the arms are interconnected by a pair of shorter pivoted arms.
