  • Patent number: 11860052
Abstract: A method includes detecting a force applied to a sensing area of a sensor system, the sensing area including a first sensing region and a second sensing region. The first sensing region is determined to be a correct sensing region. The second sensing region is determined to be an incorrect sensing region. An activation area of the incorrect sensing region is determined. A force distribution of the incorrect sensing region is determined. A corrected corresponding force measurement of the incorrect sensing region is calculated based on the activation area and force distribution of the incorrect sensing region.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 2019
Date of Patent: January 2, 2024
Assignee: TOYOTA MOTOR ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING NORTH AMERICA, INC.
    Inventors: Caleb Rogers, Tyler Flood
  • Patent number: 11627914
Abstract: A method includes determining that a portion of a force applied to a sensor system was applied to a non-inclusive region of the sensor system. An activation area of the non-inclusive region may be determined. A force distribution of the non-inclusive region may be determined. A corresponding force measurement of the non-inclusive region based on the activation area and the force distribution may be calculated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 23, 2021
Date of Patent: April 18, 2023

  • Patent number: 11041772
Abstract: A pressure sensing glove for measuring a force includes a sensor having a pair of contact layers and a pair of diffusion layers disposed between the pair of contact layers. The pair of contact layers distributes a force received along outer surfaces of the sensor across the pair of diffusion layers. The sensor further includes a sensing layer disposed between the pair of diffusion layers. The pair of diffusion layers normalizes the force received from the pair of contact layers across the sensing layer. The sensing layer receives the force at a plurality of locations across a surface area of the sensing layer to determine a resultant pressure applied to the sensor.
