Abstract: A method of operating a cellular telephone comprises presenting a user with an option of a first rule or a second rule, and accepting a selection of the first rule or the second rule. The first rule relates to a voice message, and the second rule relates to a text message. The method determines that reception is not sufficient to establish communication, and stores an address of an intended recipient. The method also stores the voice message if the first rule was selected or the text message if the second rule was selected. • Publication number: 20090165043
Abstract: Systems and methods of delivering video content are provided. A method of delivering video content is provided that includes predicting a channel change request at a network device. The predicted channel change request indicates a predicted stream of video content. The method also includes generating a control signal at the network device related to the predicted channel change request and storing the control signal at a data storage device associated with the network device. In an illustrative embodiment, the network device stores the control signal when the network device is associated with a first data capacity. Additionally, the network device sends a video content request to a service provider server when the network device is associated with a second data capacity. The video content request is related to the predicted stream.

  • Publication number: 20090132989
Abstract: A network is represented using a graph. The graph comprises a plurality of vertices and a plurality of edges. The vertices comprise a source vertex, a destination vertex and a vertex u. The edges link corresponding adjacent pairs of the vertices. A minimum cost path in the graph is determined from the source vertex to the destination vertex, wherein the vertex u is in the minimum cost path. An edge from the vertex u in the minimum cost path introduces an additional capital expenditure cost that is dependent on how the minimum cost path traverses from the source vertex to the vertex u.

  • Publication number: 20090028559
Abstract: A design of a network is determined to connect a plurality of central offices (COs) to a video hub office (VHO) using a plurality of fiber path pairs, respectively. In the design, each of the fiber path pairs is a lowest-cost, node-disjoint path pair between its respective one of the COs and the VHO independent of a cost of adding new fiber to the network. The design is modified to reduce the cost of adding new fiber to the network by re-routing traffic from at least one of the fiber path pairs to at least one other fiber path pair.
