  • Patent number: 5902427
Abstract: A fastener arrangement includes a first fastener member having a base sheet and a plurality of engaging members projecting from the base sheet. The fastener arrangement includes a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive on a surface of a base sheet opposite of the engaging members, and a dual purpose cover sheet. The dual purpose cover sheet protects the adhesive layer of the first fastener member, and the engaging members of a second, underlying fastener member. The dual purpose cover is releasably attached to the second fastener member by fusing or by using an adhesive having a first non-tacky consistency and a second tacky consistency.

  • Patent number: 5040275
Abstract: A strip material from which portions may be severed and used together as a releasably engageable fastener. The strip material comprises a bonding layer in which are embedded a plurality of U-shaped monofilaments. Each U-shaped monofilament includes two headed stem portions adapted to engage the headed stem portions of another portion of the strip material. The U-shaped monofilaments are disposed in generally straight rows longitudinally of the strip material with a percentage of the center to center spacing dimensions between adjacent longitudinal rows being less than a maximum dimension equal to the diameter of the heads plus the diameter of the stems so that slippage of heads longitudinally of the strip material between these closely spaced rows will be restricted, and with the center to center spacing dimension between the rest of the adjacent rows being greater than the maximum dimension and being selected to help provide a desired level of engagement and disengagement forces between the portions.

  • Patent number: 4748043
Abstract: An electrostatic coating system for applying very thin coating to a substrate in air at atmospheric pressure comprises a plurality of spaced capillary needles positioned in at least two rows and fed with coating liquid via a manifold. The needles are disposed concentric within holes in an extractor plate, a potential is developed between the capillary needles and the extractor plate affording a reduction of the liquid to a mist of highly charged droplets drawn to the substrate by a second electrical field. Insulative layers on the extractor plate provide increased droplet control.
