  • Patent number: 5704308
Abstract: A propulsion apparatus for coupling to the stern of a boat is provided having at least one afterplane attached to the stern. At least one motor is positioned onto each corresponding afterplane, where each motor has a propeller positioned above the top surface of the afterplane, such that the propeller does not extend substantially beyond the peripheral boundaries of the afterplane to protect the propeller. Each afterplane may be pivotally raised or lowered so that during operation of the motor, the axis of the propellers are parallel with the plane of the water for propelling the boat. The afterplanes may also be pivotally raised or lowered for planing the boat.

  • Patent number: 5444954
Abstract: A door and floor molding which includes a stationary piece and removable piece. When used as a door molding, the stationary piece is attached abutting a doorway or window and when used as a floor molding is attached a distance above the floor. The distance above the floor is dependent upon the width of the mid section of the removable piece. A lip of the removable piece extends above the mid section and is slideably engaged within a clamping pocket of the stationary piece. A stabilizing wall of the removable piece lies substantially perpendicular to the lip and extends on both sides of a plane of the lip. The stabilizing wall engages the wall in a manner so as to press the mid section against the stationary piece and provide a more secure fit. The removable piece may be removed from its position within the stationary piece to aid in painting around or running wires through the molding.

  • Patent number: 5222343
Abstract: A window and door trim assembly which can be used with siding placed against the walls of a house and includes elongated L-shaped strips fit around the casing of the window or door, and hem strips snapped over forwardly protruding flanges provided on the walls of the facing strips. The hem strips are held on the flanges of the facing strips in a locking engagement therewith but with three gaps produced between the facing surfaces of the flanges and hem strips to compensate for expansion of siding due to heat. Plastic fasteners to secure the facing strips to the siding are of such length that they do not screw into the housing wall. A method of assembling the window and door trim is described.

  • Patent number: 4961478
Abstract: A clamping device for securing a pole within a U-shaped yoke includes a clamp member pivotally supported on the yoke to open the latter so as to introduce therein an upright pole or to close the yoke to clamp the pole therewithin. The clamp member is provided with a pivotable locking member which has a hook insertable into a slot formed in a side wall of the yoke. A bolt threadingly passes through a hole in the clamp member and is terminated with a bearing plate which abuts the pole to clamp it within the yoke. The yoke is pivotally connected to an X-shaped brace which is fastened to a support surface to support the pole relative to this surface.

  • Patent number: 4955584
Abstract: A pump jack for traveling up and down a pole includes a frame member which supports a lower shackle having a front and a rear gripping rods applying a clamping force for gripping the pole. A pump arm pivotally supports and operates an upper shackle also having a front and a rear gripping rod for clamping the pole. The lower shackle has a single U-shaped yoke pivotally supported on and biased to a support arm to improve the leverage for operating the lower shackle. The upper shackle is provided with a freely rotatable roller mounted on the upper shackle so as to space the bitting front rod of the upper shackle from the pole to permit stepping up of the upper shackle. The usual tension springs on the upper shackle are eliminated to thereby permit less force needed for its operation.

  • Patent number: 4942941
Abstract: A pump jack for traveling up and down a pole includes a frame member and upper and lower shackles supported on the frame member. A pump arm is coupled to the pump jack and is operated for alternatively gripping the pole by the upper and lower shackles. The upper shackle has a helical rod which is cranked by a handle to roll along the surface of the pole. To prevent an accidental rolling of the helical rod and thus slipping of the pump jack down the pole, and anti-spin friction device including a rubber disc and a bolt acting thereon, is provided on the end of the helical rod opposite to that which carries the handle.

  • Patent number: 4856616
Abstract: An adjustable clamp for supporting guard rails or the like or an I-beam side rail of a scaffold system comprises lipped flange members designed to overlap the inner edges of end flanges of the I-beam side rail. The flange members each have a U-shaped outward extension and the extensions are joined together by a web means which is adjustable to permit the flange members to engage both I-beam end flanges snugly. A fastening means passes through the web means and bears against the web of the I-beam. Apertures which pass through the flange members serve to securely support posts for a guard rail or the like.
