  • Publication number: 20160018030
Abstract: A fitting assembly is provided with a first fitting component having a stepped wall surface; and a second fitting component radially spaced from the first fitting component when the fitting assembly is in a finger tight condition prior to pull-up. When the second fitting component is displaced into contact with the stepped wall surface during fitting pull-up, the stepped wall surface assists in separating the first fitting component from the second fitting component upon fitting disassembly.

  • Patent number: 5599165
Abstract: A friction damper (50) provides friction damping for gas turbine engine airfoils to reduce vibrations thereto. The friction damper (50) includes a plate (52) underlying radially outer shrouds (30) of two adjacent airfoils (20). Friction generated between an outer surface (53) of the plate (52) and undersides (42) of the adjacent shrouds (30) reduces undesirable vibrations in the airfoils (20).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 31, 1996
Date of Patent: February 4, 1997
    Assignee: United Technologies Corporation

  • Patent number: 5498137
Abstract: A rotor blade for a turbine engine rotor assembly is provided comprising a root, an airfoil, a platform, and apparatus for damping vibrations in the airfoil. The airfoil includes a pocket formed in a chordwise surface. The apparatus for damping vibrations in the blade includes a damper and a pocket lid. The damper is received within the pocket between an inner surface of the pocket and the pocket lid. The pocket lid is attached to the airfoil by conventional attachment apparatus and contoured to match the curvature of the airfoil.
