    Type: Application
    Filed: June 30, 2004
    Publication date: January 5, 2006
    Inventors: Carl First, Morris Jones
  • Publication number: 20050188260
Abstract: Briefly, maintenance and diagnostics operations can be performed on a computer system during power-down mode without disturbing the pre-power-down state of the computer system.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 16, 2003
    Publication date: August 25, 2005
    Inventors: Carl First, Morris Jones
  • Publication number: 20050182865
Abstract: A system includes a direct memory access (DMA) engine to move data on a real time basis and a communication front-end to transmit and receive the data. In another embodiment, the system may also include a medium access control (MAC) to control transmission and reception of the data and that may be partitioned or divided according to response times to carry out selected functions.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 14, 2005

  • Publication number: 20050138377
Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with an embodiment of the invention, an apparatus and method to provide authentication and secure communication is provided. In one example, the method may include transmitting machine credentials of a first device, wherein the machine credentials are used to authenticate the first device so that the first device is able to communicate with a second device after the first device transitions from a first power state to a second power state in response to a command received by the first device from another device, wherein power consumption of the first device in the first power state is less than the power consumption of the first device in the second power state. The first device may be used in either a wired or wireless network.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 18, 2003
    Publication date: June 23, 2005

  • Patent number: 5247517
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for analyzing and monitoring network activity. The present invention provides one-hundred percent data capture for complete monitoring capability. The present invention also permits the simulated generation of traffic up to network capacity. The method and apparatus of the present invention allows for the use of pre-defined or custom-designed network tests so that users can analyze protocols and trouble-shoot network problems at various levels. Although one-hundred percent data capture is possible, the user may also customize the system to capture only certain packets of information. For example, the present invention can be implemented to capture errors, collisions and short-length packets. The present invention accesses the token ring network through a ring interface. The output of the ring interface is coupled to a media access control (MAC) block.
