  • Publication number: 20020141822
Abstract: An apparatus for spreading, screeding and/or compacting cold paving material to a surface to be paved including a frame of a width substantially equal to the width of the surfaced to be paved. The frame has first and second sides that define the width of the frame. The apparatus includes a pile breaker that has one or more pile breaking rollers that are shorter than the full width of the frame and are connected to the frame. Behind the pile breaker, there is a height-adjustable screed roller for screeding the paving material. There may also be a compacting roller behind the screeding roller to compact the paving material. The cold paving material can be cold asphaltic mixture or similar material, Portland cement concrete or similar material or other paving material at ambient temperature.

  • Patent number: 5354145
Abstract: An ambient temperature applied asphalt emulsion material is disclosed for repairing traffic-bearing surfaces. A method of applying the asphalt emulsion material for quick hardening by the addition of a hardening agent is shown. An applicator wand which applies the emulsion and hardening agent mixture to a surface and smooths the applied material for hardening level with the surface.

  • Patent number: 5046889
Abstract: A spreader box for spreading cold mixed asphaltic concrete paving mixtures including a supporting frame or "bridge" attached to a left and right side plate. Within the spreader box and at the front portion of the box is situated a left and right side hydraulic motor or other power means, which is used to power a left and right side auger for lateral distribution of the paving mixture. Adjustment means on each end and in the middle to allow for vertical adjustment of the distribution auger. A left and right side "ROLLING SCREED" roll which has an adjustment means on each end and in the middle to allow for vertical adjustment of depth of spread.A left and right side compression roll which has adjustment means at each end and in the center for vertical adjustment of down pressure. Screed roll and compression roll connected by chain and sprocket or other power transfer means. One or more wheels or caterpillar tracks are mounted on each side plate.

  • Patent number: 4511284
Abstract: A truck frame for road repair work includes a tank containing heated asphalt, a repair materials hopper, a front discharge chute and a drive worm conveyor within the hopper for moving repair aggregate from the hopper to the chute for deposit in a pavement pothole or the like. The discharge end of the chute is manually moveable from side to side and front to back and carries an outlet for the heated asphalt to coat the aggregate emerging from the chute with the asphalt, for spreading the asphalt coated aggregate into the pavement defect being repaired. The chute has a first air inlet attached thereto remote from the discharge in and through which air under pressure is applied to the chute to cause a swirling motion of the aggregate as it descends through the chute toward the pavement, and a second air inlet at the opposite end from the outlet for receiving air under pressure to clean a pothole before the repair material is applied thereto.
