  • Patent number: 8786310
Abstract: Approaches for partially reconfiguring a frame are disclosed. In one approach, a circuit arrangement includes programmable resources, frames of configuration memory cells, and partial configuration control memory cells. Each frame includes a plurality of subsets of configuration memory cells, and each subset configures one of the programmable resources. Each partial configuration control memory cell is coupled to a respective one of the subsets. Responsive to a first partial bitstream that includes a quantity of configuration data for all the subsets of configuration cells of a first frame of the plurality of frames, each subset of the configuration memory cells of the first frame is configurable or not configurable responsive to the state of the associated partial configuration control memory cell.

  • Patent number: 8633730
Abstract: When a first sub-circuit of a programmable integrated circuit (“IC”) is to be deactivated, a global write enable (GWE) signal is deasserted. In response to deassertion of the GWE signal and a first memory cell associated with the first sub-circuit being in a first state, flip-flops in the first sub-circuit are disabled from changing state. In response to memory cells associated with sub-circuits other than the first sub-circuit being in a second state, flip-flops in the other sub-circuits are enabled to change state. When the first sub-circuit is to be activated, the GWE signal is asserted. Logic implemented by the first sub-circuit is preserved between the deasserting and the asserting of the GWE signal. In response to assertion of the GWE signal and the first memory cell associated with the first sub-circuit being in the first state, flip-flops in the first sub-circuit are enabled to change state.

  • Patent number: 5659484
Abstract: A device independent, frequency driven layout system and method for field programmable gate arrays ("FPGA") which allow for a circuit designer to specify the desired operating frequencies of clock signals in a given design to the automatic layout system to generate, if possible, a physical FPGA layout which will allow the targeted FPGA device to operate at the specified frequencies. Actual net, path and skew requirements are automatically generated and fed to the place and route tools. The system and method of the present invention evaluates the frequency constraints, determines what delay ranges are acceptable for each electrical connection and targets those ranges throughout the layout.

  • Patent number: 5604950
Abstract: A suction nozzle adapted for use in a suction cleaning device, such as an automatic swimming pool cleaner, includes a body having a throat extending from an inlet at one end of the body to an outlet at an opposite end of the body. The body itself is split longitudinally into a plurality of discrete body portions to form the throat of the nozzle. One body portion is movable relative to the other body portion, whereby the throat automatically expands in response to the relative movement of the body portions. The resulting expansion of the nozzle allows substantially unrestricted passage of large foreign objects through the throat during the operation of the suction cleaning device.

  • Patent number: 5535552
Abstract: A pressure-fit barrier such as a gate has a first panel member coupled to a partially overlapping second panel member so that the panels are slidable laterally relative to each other, thus changing the overall width of the gate. A carriage member is slidably mounted on the second panel for lateral movement relative to the second panel and a displacing mechanism is coupled with the carriage member and the second panel and is selectively operable to laterally displace the carriage relative to the second panel. An engagement mechanism is connected to the carriage for selectively engaging with and non-engaging with the first panel. When the engaging mechanism is non-engaged lateral movement of the carriage member with respect to the second panel does not cause relative lateral movement between the first panel and the second panel, and when the engaging mechanism is engaged lateral movement of the carriage member causes corresponding relative lateral movement between the first panel and the second panel.

  • Patent number: 5052461
Abstract: A security gate includes an installation and release mechanism that is operable with one hand. The gate comprises two panels which are extendible with respect to each other and lockable in the extended position. This makes it possible for the gate to expand across a wide variety of door openings. A handle located centrally on the top of the gate is connected by a pair of cranks and a pull rod to a pair of plungers which contact one side of the door frame. Spring bias on the plungers normally force the plungers into contact with the door frame. Slots in the upper and lower plunger links permit the plungers to accommodate irregular door frames. The handle is employed to withdraw the plungers from contact with the door frames and, conversely, the absence of handle pressure causes the gate to position itself solidly against the vertical door jamb. The handle is also employed by the operator to carry and position the gate in the doorway, allowing one-handed operation.

  • Patent number: 5045016
Abstract: A toy wheeled vehicle such as a toy truck which is intended to be pushed along by a child includes electronic circuitry which is capable of emitting a plurality of different sounds similar to the sounds of a real truck. The actual sound of a truck's internal combustion engine is digitized and stored in a microprocessor along with other sounds such as those generated by a starter motor, horn, backup beeper and the like. In addition, the microprocessor is capable of synthesizing additional realistic vehicle sounds such as those generated by air brakes and the like. A starter switch first activates the starter motor sound and then the engine sound at idle speed. A speed sensor senses both speed and direction of travel and varies the engine sound in response to the sensed speed. The backup beeper sound is automatically generated along with the engine sound when the truck is moved in reverse. The microprocessor not only stores all of the digitized sounds but also controls all of the operations of the truck.
