  • Publication number: 20090071086
Abstract: A shrinkage-compensated concrete slab is formed with no reinforcing structural bars therein, but with plates around its periphery so as to restrain expansive and shrinkage forces. The plates can be made of steel and welded together at their ends, and can include studs extending inwardly from inner surfaces thereof for attachment to the slab.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 13, 2008
    Publication date: March 19, 2009
    Inventor: Carl N. Ytterberg
  • Patent number: 6470640
Abstract: A reinforced concrete building structure comprises a shrinkage compensating concrete slab having a plurality of deformed reinforcing bars embedded therein, the bars being restricted to a peripheral portion of the slab which surrounds the centroid of the slab devoid of reinforcement and are aligned with the expansive and shrinkage forces to elastically restrain the forces and to thereby act as an internally developed tension ring.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 2001
Date of Patent: October 29, 2002
    Assignee: Kalman Floor Company
    Inventor: Carl N. Ytterberg
  • Patent number: 6401416
Abstract: A vee joint having a first flange hingedly connected to a second flange at an angle. A trough is formed between the first flange and the second flange and is used to retain joint filler within a joint interval in a concrete floor slab. The flanges are movable to facilitate the placement and retention of the vee joint within various sized joints in concrete slab flooring. When the vee joint is placed within a joint interval, the flanges may be spaced varying distances apart to accommodate joint filler therebetween and to intimately engage with the confronting walls of the floor slab to avoid bypass of joint fill material.

  • Patent number: 5709824
Abstract: A roller compacted concrete industrial floor slab is formed by surface finishing the slab by using a separate thin topping bonded to a roughened surface of the RCC, or by manipulating the RCC surface itself by working into its surface a finish mixture of cement-coated, rice-sized grit in a moisture saturated condition to fill any voids in the surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 13, 1997
Date of Patent: January 20, 1998
    Assignee: Kalman Floor Co., Inc.
Inventors: Carl N. Ytterberg, Ernest K. Schrader
