  • Patent number: 9752922
Abstract: A scale and associated method automatically identify when a food product pricing scale is in an offline condition and changes a color condition on the scale display to alert scale operators of the offline condition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 2010
Date of Patent: September 5, 2017
    Assignee: PREMARK FEG L.L.C.
Inventors: Carla A. Monnier, Mark Edward Eberhardt, Jr., David Scott Miller, James Carl Meyer
  • Patent number: 8393133
Abstract: A machine for wrapping items to produce packages includes default settings which provide appropriate parameters for wrapping packages based on a ubiquitous feature of the item such as tray size. In addition, one or more exceptions to the default settings are included such that items of a given value for the ubiquitous feature which require special or unusual handling parameters will be detected and handled according to these different parameters. These parameters including exceptions are readily transferable between multiple wrapping machines. An autocalibration feature allows for specific differences in the tolerances and settings of different wrapping machines.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 13, 2008
Date of Patent: March 12, 2013
    Assignee: Premark FEG L.L.C.

  • Publication number: 20080190672
Abstract: A method of receiving product pricing errors within a store including multiple food product scales is provided. The method includes (a) providing a store scale communications network. At step (b), a primary food product scale is provided in the store including memory for storing product pricing data. At step (c), a secondary food product scale is provided in the store including memory for storing product pricing data. At step (d), food product pricing data is communicated to the primary food product scale via the communications network and the food product pricing data is stored in memory of the primary food product scale. At step (e), the secondary food product scale identifies a potential internal product pricing data error condition and responsively requests accurate product pricing data from the primary food product scale. At step (f), after step (e), at least some of the product pricing data is sent from the primary food product scale to the secondary food product scale.

  • Publication number: 20080191012
Abstract: A method of tracking food product status using a food product scale, the scale including a weighing station including an associated mechanism for producing weight indicative signals, and an operator interface screen including a display, is provided. The method includes entering product identification information of a food product into a food product scale using an operator interface of the food product scale. The food product scale identifies the food product based on the product information. A shelf life label is printed that includes shelf life information associated with the food product. A shelf life record is created that is saved in memory. The shelf life record includes the product identification information and an expiration date of the food product.

  • Publication number: 20080134634
Abstract: A package wrapping machine includes a wrapping station where film is to be manipulated during a packaging operation. A support is provided for holding rolled film, the support located to permit film to be drawn into the wrapping station. A film grip assembly is used for gripping at least one edge of film during at least part of a wrapping operation. A plurality of sealed components are configured to inhibit infiltration of liquid into the components during a spray cleaning operation.

  • Patent number: 6170440
Abstract: The invention is a gas fired water booster comprising a holding tank, a centrifugal pump, an infrared burner enclosed by a woven ceramic fiber sleeve, a primary and a secondary heat exchanger, and a gas/air supply source. Preferably, the tank and the burner are generally annular in shape and the burner is disposed substantially within the tank. An air/gas mixture is supplied to the burner by a blower and is ignited creating a combustion surface approximately one eighth of an inch above the surface of the woven ceramic fiber sleeve. Water is continuously circulated through the heat exchange system and the burner remains on until a temperature sensor indicates that the water has attained a temperature in the desired sanitizing range.
