  • Patent number: 8408871
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for measuring an air flow at an airfoil surface are provided, wherein at least one pressure sensor adapted to detect an air flow associated with a rotor blade surface and a pressure transducer which converts the detected air flow into an electrical signal indicating the air flow are provided. The pressure sensor is arranged within the boundary layer of the air flow at the airfoil surface such that the boundary layer profile may be determined from the electrical signal. The air flow sensor is adapted for rotor blades of a wind turbine to assist in adjusting a pitch angle of the rotor blades.

  • Publication number: 20060277916
Abstract: A liquid atomizing arrangement comprises: a line system, at least one pressure atomizer nozzle, at least one line for the liquid to be atomized, and at least one first actuator for setting the atomizing supply pressure and/or the liquid mass flow through the atomizing arrangement. method of operating the liquid atomizing arrangement comprises the steps of measuring the mass flow flowing through the liquid atomizing arrangement, of measuring the atomizing supply pressure upstream of the pressure atomizer nozzle, and of acting upon the first actuator as a function of at least one of these measured values.

  • Publication number: 20060248897
Abstract: A power plant comprises an air-breathing combustion engine having an air inlet and an inflow duct arranged upstream of the air inlet, as well as an atomization device arranged in the inflow duct. In a method for operating this power plant, a liquid is injected into the inflow duct in the atomization device. During the injection, at least the temperature of the atomization liquid which is to be injected upstream of the atomization device or the temperature in the inflow duct downstream of the atomization device is measured. One of these measured temperatures is used as control variable for control of the temperature of the atomization liquid.

  • Publication number: 20060218931
Abstract: A system for the atomization of liquid is arranged on the intake duct of a gas turbo set. This atomization system comprises a number of nozzle tubes with atomizer nozzles, switching valves for selective action upon the nozzle tubes by liquid and a pump for conveying the liquid to be atomized. According to the invention, the pump is connected to a variable-speed drive. The switching valves are preferably designed as proportional valves. In a corresponding regulating circuit, this makes it possible to limit pressure gradients in the atomization system and consequently to avoid hammers.

  • Publication number: 20060075755
Abstract: A method for operating a gas turbine installation (1) includes sucking in a gaseous medium (2) by the compressor (3) and compressed in the compressor space, a liquid medium (10) being injected into the gaseous medium (2), so that a two-phase flow comprising a gaseous phase and a liquid phase is formed at least in a subregion of the compressor (3). The gaseous medium (2) is then burnt with fuel (5) in a combustion chamber (6) to form hot gases (7), and the hot gases (7) are expanded in a turbine (8), the hot components of the gas turbine installation (1) being cooled by cooling air (14) of a cooling air system. A measurement is carried out to determine whether a liquid phase is present in a region of the compressor (3) and/or of the cooling air system.
