  • Patent number: 4577599
Abstract: A two cycle internal combustion engine (21) is remotely started and operated by a control (23) including a programmable microprocessor (42) selectively operable by a remote start command station (25) operating through an interconnected cable or telecommunications and a local start command station (24). Engine speed and temperature are sensed to modify the fuel and/or the air/fuel ratio supplied to the engine (21) to efficiently start and run the engine (21) under severe adverse climatic conditions and to reinitiate cranking when engine speed fails to reach predetermined levels following predetermined cranking periods. When running, a load (36) is automatically connected and disconnected in response to the sensed operating conditions of the engine (21) while modifications are selectively made to the fuel and air/fuel ratio and/or cranking reinitiation is applied according to sensed operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 4445470
Abstract: A two-cycle engine having an oil pump (19) driven by the engine crankshaft (11) to supply lubricant to the carburetor (12) has an alarm system to warn of an interruption of the oil pump drive. The alarm system has a signal processor (23) connected to activate an alarm (27) should signals from an oil pump rotation sensor (26) be interrupted, if a level switch (28) in the oil tank (20) indicates a low oil level, or should a signal from the ignition system (14) be interrupted. The signal processor (23) is also connected to briefly activate the alarm (27) when the engine is started to provide a test of the alarm system.

  • Patent number: 4318699
Abstract: A sensor (43) responds to the operation of a marine transportation system to sense on-plane and off-plane conditions of a boat (21) to operate a trim control (44) to automatically position a trimmable drive (25) for a desired boating operation. The preferred embodiment senses engine speed while an alternative embodiment senses fluid pressure opposing boat movement. The drive (25) is moved to an auto-out position (34) at high speeds and to a trimmed-in position (33) at lower speeds.
