    Abstract: The structural characteristics of standing poles are enhanced or preserved, or changed to provide break-away characteristics, by a technique which includes forming one or more sheets about the pole. The sheets are defined by an outer jacket, a plurality of spacer members positioned within the jacket and a solidified encapsulating material which fills the jacket.
