  • Patent number: 8603522
Abstract: A daily nutritional or dietary supplement composition that strengthens and promotes retinal health through the prevention, stabilization, reversal and/or treatment of visual acuity loss by reducing the risk of developing late stage or advanced age-related macular degeneration in persons with early age-related macular degeneration. The ingredients of the daily nutritional or dietary supplement composition include vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein, zinc and copper. The ingredients are preferably provided in a tablet form suitable for oral ingestion.

  • Publication number: 20060272662
Abstract: A cigarette having a multi-component filter wherein an upstream sorbent removes at least one constituent from mainstream tobacco smoke passing through the filter and a downstream flavor segment compensates for taste lost to the sorbent. The flavor component includes cellulosic flavor bearing granules which release volatile flavor constituents into the mainstream smoke under ambient conditions. The cellulosic granules include microcrystalline cellulose or other cellulosic material which can be formed into a paste with the flavor additive, extruded and spheronized to form the flavor granules.

  • Publication number: 20040052863
Abstract: A nutritional or dietary supplement composition that strengthens and promotes retinal health through the prevention, stabilization, reversal and/or treatment of visual acuity loss by reducing the risk of developing late stage or advanced age-related macular degeneration in persons with early age-related macular degeneration. The nutritional or dietary supplement composition may likewise reduce the risk of vision loss associated with the development of cataracts. The essential ingredients of the nutritional or dietary supplement composition are vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, zinc and copper. The essential ingredients are preferably provided in a tablet form suitable for oral ingestion. Preferably the composition is taken in the form of one or two tablets taken twice daily.

  • Patent number: 6647079
Abstract: In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, a circuit is provided which is configured to recover clock and data streams from an incoming signal. The circuit comprises a multiplexer having first and second inputs, and an output. The first input is configured to receive the incoming signal, and the second input is configured to receive a reference clock signal, while the output selectively supplies one of the incoming and reference clock signals. A toggling circuit, such as a flip-flop, and a frequency multiplier circuit are further provided which are coupled to the multiplexer output. A filter circuit is coupled to the frequency multiplier circuit, and the output of the filter circuit is coupled to a second input of the toggling circuit. Moreover, the output of the filtering circuit corresponds to the recovered clock stream, and an output of the toggling circuit corresponds to the recovered data stream.

  • Patent number: 4115258
Abstract: Pure oxygen or a gas containing substantially more oxygen than air is injected under pressure into sewage held in or flowing through a rising or pumping sewer. This injection may be used to prevent the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the sewer falling to a level at which there occurs bacterial reduction to hydrogen sulphide of sulphate present in the sewage and/or to reduce the Biochemical Oxygen Demand of the sewage. The injection can also be used to oxidize to sulphur any sulphide dissolved in the sewage. The pure oxygen or the gas containing more oxygen than air may be injected into sewage flowing through a sewage pipe forming part of a rising or pumping sewer, into a pump used to transfer the sewage through the sewer, or into a part of the sewer (e.g. a sump) where sewage is collected before being transferred through the sewer.

  • Patent number: 4039437
Abstract: The invention provides a method of, and apparatus for, treating sewage flowing through a sewer, wherein an oxygenating gas is introduced under pressure into the sewage and is dissolved therein and the thus oxygenated sewage is contact with a matrix of solid material carrying micro-organisms effective to reduce the Biochemical Oxygen Demand of the sewage, the matrix extending across a region inside the sewer. The treatment may be performed in a gravity sewer or in a rising or pumping sewer.
