  • Patent number: 5912026
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for forming a hinge in a sheet of extruded plastic. Plastic material is extruded and passed between a pair of rolls to determine the thickness of the plastic sheet. A groove forming member of a scoring assembly then creates a groove in the sheet of plastic when the plastic is still warm. The groove forming process creates a plastic ridge on both sides of the groove. To flatten these ridges, the sheet then passes through a second set of rolls. The sheet of plastic, still warm, is then cooled by a conventional method. The scoring assembly is movable along the width of the sheet of plastic and is adjustable for the depth of groove. The scoring assembly can also be removable. Once a groove is created, the groove acts as a hinge and the sheet can be bent or folded along the grooved edge.

  • Patent number: 4655355
Abstract: A container (10) having a line of weakness (18) at which the container is opened includes an inner closure (20) mounted within the container cover (16) above the line of weakness (18), and an annular sidewall (22) depending below the frangible line of weakness (18). The inner closure (22) protects the line of weakness (18) from the liquid contents, thereby preventing spillage of liquid contents onto outer non-sterile surfaces upon opening of the container. The container prevents the commercially undesireable retention of moisture in the volume (40) defined by the cover (16) and the inner closure (20). The container may be integrity tested using standard testing procedures.

  • Patent number: 4301935
Abstract: A container and hanger therefor are disclosed, wherein the container has a bottom wall portion with a recessed or indented area in which support shaft means are located. An elongated hanger element has an aperture at each end for receiving the shaft means to form a hanger loop pivotable about the shaft means for movement between a position adjacent the recessed portion and a hanging position.

  • Patent number: 4218416
Abstract: The method and apparatus are useful in forming a parison which has a varying wall thickness and an outer diameter larger than the outer diameter of the annular outlet orifice from which the parison is extruded. Such a parison is obtained by adding additional molten thermoplastic material to the parison while extruding the same to vary the thickness of portions of the parison. The additional molten material is directed radially outwardly from the axis of the parison to increase the wall thickness and to increase the swell of the parison which is defined as the ratio of the inner diameter of the parison to the outer diameter of the outlet orifice. Also the ratio of the outer diameter of the parison to the inner diameter of a mold in which the parison is blowmolded into a container is reduced permitting a larger container to be formed from the thicker portion of the parison while having a small entrance opening formed from a thin wall portion of the parison.
