Patents by Inventor Cesare Bassoli

Cesare Bassoli has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 4351295
Abstract: The fuel injection method uses a distributor-type fuel injector pump for an internal combustion engine which has a rotary distributor member formed with two outlet passages communicating with a pump chamber and arranged to distribute fuel intermittently to successive fuel delivery apertures leading to respective engine cylinders, so that in each revolution of the distributor the pump delivers to each cylinder a principal fuel injection at the end of the compression stroke, preceded by a pre-injection. Automatic timing control means advance the delivery stroke of the pump automatically in response to engine speed increase, and the angle between the outlets of the two outlet passages is such that as the engine speed varies the ratio of the fuel pre-injected to that of the principal injection into each cylinder varies according to a rule predetermined in relation to the type of engine (i.e. precombustion chamber or direct injection type).
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Centro Ricerche Fiat S.p.A.
Inventors: Cesare Bassoli, Giorgio Cornetti, Francesco Lovisolo

  • Patent number: 4167172
Abstract: The lubrication of an engine crank shaft is monitored using a wheatstone resistance measuring bridge one of the arms of which includes lubricating oil ducts between the crank shaft and crank case of the engine, balanced against a reference resistance provided by a resistance measuring cell through which the engine lubricating oil flows. The resistance measuring cell may have an external heater for heating the oil in the cell to a temperature compatible with that of the oil in the engine bearings when the engine is running.

  • Patent number: 4109506
Abstract: A device for testing the lubrication of an internal combustion engine has a potentiometer circuit connected between two electrodes one in contact with the crankshaft and the other in contact with the crank case, a first voltage detector of the averaging type connected directly across the potentiometer and at least one further voltage detector of the averaging type connected to a threshold discriminator which is also connected across the potentiometer; a third averaging voltage detector may be connected to a further threshold discriminator connected across the potentiometer, this latter having a threshold set at a value different from that of the first mentioned discriminator: alternatively the first mentioned discriminator may be one having two thresholds to each of which it can be switched at will.
