  • Patent number: 4614394
Abstract: Connection is effected by piercing the insulation of the cable by a pair of needles (36) connected to the circuit and disposed parallel to one another at a distance slightly less than the diameter of the central conductor (19) of the cable, so as to come into contact with the conductor at two diametrically opposed regions. The parts of the needles which pass through the screening braid (21) of the cable are covered with insulation (44).Two other pairs of parallel needles (52) are disposed symmetrically either side of the first pair and are arranged in pairs at a distance corresponding to the diameter of the screening braid. All the needles are disposed on a jaw (15) adapted to receive the cable, against which a second jaw is closed when actuated by a two-position lever. This is connected to the second jaw by connecting rods which in the closed position are moved beyond a dead point.

  • Patent number: 4554590
Abstract: The device for positioning a video display unit (VDU) comprises a supporting structure with a spherical cap provided at the bottom of the supporting structure, and a base with a frusto-conical seat for housing the spherical cap. The center of gravity of the VDU coincides substantially with the center of the spherical cap, and the base comprises a central pin projecting into a slot in the cap. This connection of pin and slot type enables the video unit to rotate in a vertical plane passing through the slot axis and in a horizontal plane perpendicular to the pin axis. One or more spacer rings complete with seat and pin can be stacked on the base to raise the VDU.

  • Patent number: 4195321
Abstract: The apparatus is used for the automatic sequential handling of floppy disks and includes a disk writing and reading unit, a loading stacker and a receiving stacker. A single disk can be inserted in the top part of the unit, whereas a pack of disks is placed in the loading stacker. A plate dividing the loading stacker from the receiving stacker can be moved to bring the bottom part of the unit into communication with the loading stacker and the receiving stacker alternately. The disks are inserted one after another into the bottom part of the unit by a moving slider when the latter is shifted from left to right and the plate is lowered. A feeding tooth detaches the disk at the bottom of the pack and positions it with respect to the slider.During the right-to-left return movement of the slider, the plate is raised and a pair of pincers mounted on the slider withdraws the written or read disk from the bottom part of the unit, and lets it fall into the receiving stacker.
