  • Publication number: 20230143226
Abstract: An implant for therapeutically separating bones of a joint has two endplates each having an opening through the endplate, and at least one ramped surface on a side opposite a bone engaging side. A frame is slideably connected to the endplates to enable the endplates to move relative to each other at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the implant, in sliding connection with the frame. An actuator screw is rotatably connected to the frame. A carriage forms an open area aligned with the openings in the endplates. The openings in the endplates pass through the carriage to form an unimpeded passage from bone to bone of the joint. The carriage has ramps which mate with the ramped surfaces of the endplates, wherein when the carriage is moved by rotation of the actuator screw, the endplates move closer or farther apart.

  • Patent number: 11612495
Abstract: A joint spacer for therapeutically maintains separation of bones of a joint. A frame defines a longitudinal axis extending between distal and proximal ends. A carriage is slideably retained within the frame and has at least one ramped surface and a threaded portion. An actuator screw is threadably engaged with the threaded portion, and bears against said frame to cause the carriage to slideably move within the frame when the actuator screw is rotated. A first endplate engages a bone of the joint, and has at least one ramped surface that is mateable with the ramped surface of the carriage.

  • Publication number: 20230071654
Abstract: Expandable fusion devices, systems, and methods thereof. The expandable implant may include first and second lateral legs and link plates pivotably joined between them. The lateral legs may include upper and lower endplates configured to engage adjacent vertebrae, an actuator assembly including a rotatable actuator having a shaft and a rotatable nut, and driving ramps positioned along the shaft of the actuator. The actuator assembly may cause independent movement of one or more of the driving ramps, thereby causing an expansion in height of the upper and lower endplates of the lateral legs and passive expansion of the connected link plates.
