Abstract: A biopsy device may include a stylet having a stylet tip and an outer slot for receiving a biopsy sample, a cannula extending about and receiving the stylet, the cannula having a cannula tip with a cutting edge facing an axial centerline of the cannula and a cannula drive coupled to the cannula to translate and rotate the cannula along and about the axial centerline of the cannula from a first position in which the outer slot is uncovered and a second position in which the cannula extends over and covers the outer slot.
