  • Patent number: 8760321
Abstract: A method for detecting and processing key scan codes of a computer keyboard is disclosed. At least one scan code table is established for a computer device in advance and is stored in a scan code table memory that is accessible by a keyboard controller so that the keyboard controller, after initialization, may load the scan code table from the scan code table memory to a scan code table load-in area within the keyboard controller. The keyboard controller, upon detecting the actuation of any key of the keyboard, generates a interrupt request signal to the south bridge, which in turn retrieves the scan code; or alternatively, the keyboard controller generates an interrupt signal to the south bridge, which in turn retrieves and transmits the interrupt query number of the interrupt signal to the computer operating system, which in turn executes a preset target program corresponding to the interrupt query number.

  • Patent number: 7650439
Abstract: A falling protective device for protecting a hard disk of a falling portable computer against damages includes a falling sensor arranged in the portable computer for generating and sending an interrupt signal to a keyboard controller in response to a detected falling state of the computer. An SMI signal line is extended between and connected to the keyboard controller and a system BIOS of the computer. On receipt of the interrupt signal generated by the falling sensor, the keyboard controller sends an SMI signal via the SMI signal line to the system BIOS, which in turn sends a park control signal to park the hard disk or a power-off control signal to terminate the supply of working power to the hard disk. The system BIOS sends a polling signal via a polling signal line to the keyboard controller, so as to poll about a state signal of a default status bit in a default signal port of the keyboard controller.

  • Publication number: 20090103404
Abstract: Disclosed is an optic disk drive power management method for a computer system, which uses a keyboard controller, together with a system basic input/output system of the computer and a virtual optic-disk driver, to determine the status of the optic disk drive, including connection and removal of the optic disk drive, loading of a disk to the optic disk drive, and actuation of an eject button, and controls supply of power to the optic disk drive accordingly. Also, the system basic input/output system is employed to inform the virtual optic-disk driver to display an identifiable color (colored or gray) or figure representing the icon of the optic disk drive, thereby illustrating the status of the optic disk drive.

  • Publication number: 20090070491
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for executing target programs with compound quick keys, which is applicable to a computer that is pre-loaded with a compound quick-key program matching list that contains data of at least one function key, at least one single-key quick key, and an event signal and a target program associated with the quick key. After the computer loads the operating system, a compound quick-key management program is activated to read the compound quick-key program matching list. When a user actuates the function key and the single-key quick key simultaneously, the keyboard controller transmits the event signal associated with the actuated function key and the single-key quick key and executes the target program associated with the actuated function key and the single-key quick key in accordance with compound quick-key program matching list.
