Abstract: There is provided an anti-irritant diaper having an absorbent material constructed with a shape defined by a front area, a middle area, a rear area, a pair of leg cuffs and closing tabs. A resilient, flexible band is removably disposed longitudinally and centrally along the absorbent material. A pocket is formed within the middle area for receiving excreted solid waste, so that the pocket forms a space above it separating the pocket from the wearer's skin, the flexible band maintains the structure of the pocket. There is also provided a removable one-directional flexible partition having a pair of dividers situated above the pocket, each of the dividers being attached at one end to one of the pair of leg cuffs, each divider being segmented into a plurality of flaps.

The diaper is comprised of a front portion, a crotch area, a rear portion, closing tabs for securing the diaper upon a wearer, waste containment means for collecting and isolating body wastes; attachment means for detachably attaching said containment means to the crotch area of the interior said diaper. The improvement comprises a reinforced, semi-rigid ribbing disposed contiguous to at least one surface of the containment means, for restoring the containment means to its original shape after being compressively deformed, and closure means provided on the containment means, to ensure closure of the containment means when the wearer is seated.

Abstract: An anti-irritant disposable diaper to contain solid waste and maintain it and wet absorbent material apart from the skin of the infant, thus removing the two major sources of irritation caused by prior art disposable diapers. The diaper comprises a front portion, a crotch area, a rear portion, and closing arrangement. A rib extending from the top edge of the diaper to the top rear edge of the diaper maintains a gap between the diaper and the skin surface. A solid waste receptacle is retained in the crotch area of the diaper interior, and may comprise a bag attached either to a set of straps, or directly to the sides of the crotch area of the diaper, or to an aperture provided in the diaper. Alternatively, the rigid rib may be provided with a rigid pocket for solid waste containment.
