  • Patent number: 6859614
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an access to a memory in a system decoder of a digital video disk player. The digital video disk player includes several devices which access the memory. A memory controller connected to the devices and a data/address bus controls access to the memory. A priority order controller allows the devices to access the memory according to a predetermined priority order. The priority order controller generates acknowledgement signals to the corresponding devices in response to request signals generated from the devices. If two or more request signals are simultaneously generated from the devices, the priority order controller generates an acknowledgement signal to the appropriate device according to a predetermined priority order of the devices. Further, the acknowledgement signal is deactivated, if an access actuation signal is deactivated.

  • Patent number: 6233394
Abstract: A method for playing back multiple kinds of optical discs includes making a decision as to whether a played back optical disc is classified into a digital video disc (DVD) or compact disc (CD) class, detecting the synchronization pattern of the identified disc class, reading a data stream from the optical disc by controlling the voltage controlled oscillation and the constant linear speed of the disc according to the identified disc class, decoding the data stream into the identified disc class according to the detected synchronization pattern, and transferring the decoded data stream to an audio/video decoder or a ROM decoder.

  • Patent number: 5787399
Abstract: Components include: an audio input, an audio output, a signal processor, a buffer memory, an interface, a command input, a display, and a controller. When a record command is input, the controller detects a non-sound section of the audio signal input, generates time data corresponding to the non-sound section, forms a data transmission block using the time data and sound data, records the result into an IC memory card, and registers a list of the newly recorded content at a content table. When a reproduction command is input, the controller reads the start/end address of a selected musical piece with reference to the TOC which is loaded into the buffer memory from the IC memory card, accesses the corresponding audio data from the IC memory card, and controls the system according to a reproduction operation. Silence sections are only stored at the beginning of a musical piece.

  • Patent number: 5699549
Abstract: A memory card is formatted so as to provide a first index area for storing a chapter attribute table made up of attribute information corresponding to a plurality of chapters, each chapter formed by a plurality of clusters required for performing a one-time recording of sequential information into a data area, a second index area for storing a cluster table made up of the used information of each cluster corresponding to the order of clusters of the data area, a data area divided into a plurality of clusters, and a card management information area for storing card management information including the information regarding recorded data, information regarding an associated application device relating to the recorded data and information regarding the number of recorded chapters, arranged in that order. According to one aspect of the memory card, a defective block redundant area advantageously can be provided between the data area and the card management information area.

  • Patent number: 5638321
Abstract: A recorder for an IC memory card (37) using a NAND-type flash memory assigns a single address to both audio and video source data, matching a structure of the NAND-type flash memory. Consequently, the audio and video source data may be recorded with a single address. The recorder includes a first memory (32) for accessing video data in units of a basic region of one page in the NAND-type flash memory, and a second memory (33) for accessing audio data in units of a dummy region of one page in the NAND-type flash memory. A first latch (34) and a second latch (35) match the timing of the video data and the audio data, respectively, accessible from the memories (32, 33). A page memory (36) records the video data output via the first latch (34) and then records the audio data output via the second latch (35) sequentially to thereby store data of a whole one-page unit.

  • Patent number: 4977923
Abstract: A pilot controlled diaphragm shut-off valve (13) includes a cushion body (22) disposed in a pilot pressure chamber (20). The cushion body (22)operates to gradually allow the build up of pressure in the pilot pressure chamber (20) as water enters through a pilot orifice (21a) into the pilot pressure chamber (20). Such gradual pressure build up in the pilot pressure chamber (20) allows a gradual closing velocity of the shut-off diaphragm valve (13) and thereby eliminates the water hammer phenomena. An actuating diaphragm (32) is provided for opening and closing a pilot valve (24). Alternatively, a float (43) may be employed for opening and closing the pilot valve (24). Either the actuating diaphragm (32) or the float (43) is linked to a stem (23) and lever (26) mechanism, or alternatively to a magnetic linkage (40, 41, 42a).
