  • Publication number: 20160241443
Abstract: A system includes a processor of a first node, which is one of a plurality of nodes governed by a group policy. The processor is operable to transmit, using an interface, a first request to receive information associated with the plurality of nodes and receive, using the interface, sets of configuration information associated with the plurality of nodes after a change has occurred regarding the plurality of nodes. The processor is further operable to compare the sets of configuration information associated with the plurality of nodes to the configuration information associated with the first node and determine a difference. In response, the processor is operable to determine, based on the group policy, to configure the first node. The processor is additionally operable to determine a second node that stores a set of files to configure the first node and configure the first node using the set of files.

  • Publication number: 20160026661
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed in which the buses of a server computer are monitored through server management software. A data structure for a monitored bus or group of buses is created and stored in a repository of data structures for other monitored devices within the server computer. As events, such as failure events, occur on one or more of the monitored buses, the event is recorded in an event log. Using the server management software, monitoring commands can be issued by the baseboard management controller to each monitored bus to check the status of the bus.

  • Patent number: 9183106
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed in which the buses and physical characteristics of a server computer are monitored through server management software. A data structure for a monitored characteristic or group of characteristics is created and stored in a repository of data structures for other monitored devices and attributes within the server computer. As events, such as failure and pre-failure events, occur on one or more of the monitored attributes, the event is recorded in an event log. Using the server management software, monitoring commands can be issued by the baseboard management controller to each monitored bus to check the status of the attribute or device.

  • Publication number: 20150160627
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for use in a chassis having a plurality of slots each configured to receive a module having one or more information handling systems wherein each slot is configured to electrically and communicatively couple the module to other components of the chassis may be provided. The method may include receiving, by a controller integral to the chassis, a signal from a sensor integral to the chassis, the signal indicative of a measured physical quantity of the sensor. The method may also include communicating, from the controller to a remote access controller integral to at least one module disposed in the plurality of slots, sensor information in conformity with the signal.

  • Patent number: 8136119
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and media for managing jobs of an object-oriented information model. Managing includes maintaining and updating job status information resuming interrupted jobs following a reboot of the host system, issuing job references to clients, and manipulating job data for example, listing, retrieving, and/or deleting job data. Each job of an object-oriented model may be represented in a cache by a data section comprising data describing the corresponding job. Data includes a unique identifier, job state information, action after reboot information, and whether the job requires that the system undergo a reboot.

  • Patent number: 7269534
Abstract: An information handling system is provided with a BIOS and a baseboard management controller. The baseboard management controller is provided with non-standard functionality that enables the BIOS to request sensor data records of a specific type. Thus the BIOS can ask for specific kinds of sensor data, such as those for memory sensors only.

The baseboard management controller is provided with non-standard functionality that enables the BIOS to request sensor data records of a specific type. Thus the BIOS can ask for specific kinds of sensor data, such as those for memory sensors only. By limiting the amount of data retrieved by the BIOS from the BMC, slow moving traffic between the BIOS and the BMC can be reduced, thereby increasing overall system performance.
