  • Patent number: 9848210
Abstract: A hybrid error concealment method including: receiving an image including a source area and a restoration area to be restored by means of a decoder; determining a target patch in which a target pixel having the highest priority is at the center among pixels positioned in a boundary area of the restoration area by means of the decoder; and performing restoring by exemplar-based image inpainting for the target patch based on a difference between the target patch and the final source patch of the source area or performing spatial interpolation for the target pixel by means of the decoder.

  • Patent number: 6452969
Abstract: A video editing system for editing a compressed video stream in the transform domain reconstructs frames of video signal that have been motion compensated predictive encoded on a block basis. Spatial translations of blocks are determined from motion vectors and shifting matrices are generated with subpixel resolution from the translation data. The shifting matrices are applied to respective blocks and reconstructed blocks are formed from transform domain prediction blocks and transform domain prediction error blocks.

  • Patent number: 6445828
Abstract: A video editing system which resizes a video stream in a transform domain is disclosed. The video editing system partial decodes a compressed video stream in order to obtain a transform domain representation of the video stream. The transform domain representation of the video stream includes both frame encoded blocks and field encoded blocks. The field encoded blocks result from reordering of pels prior to transform domain encoding the pels. The frame encoded blocks, however, result from transform domain encoding pels without reordering pels. Accordingly, the video editing system of the present invention accounts for the encoding differences between the field encoded blocks and the frame encoded blocks when resizing the video stream in the transform domain. To this end, the video editing system includes field resizing matrices for resizing the field encoded blocks and frame resizing matrices for resizing the frame encoded blocks.

  • Patent number: 6041079
Abstract: A field/frame conversion method for compressed digital video, especially MPEG type video, having mixed field/frame mode macroblocks in the DCT domain utilizes a 1-D IDCT/DCT approach rather than the conventional 2-D IDCT/DCT approach. A vertical 1-D IDCT is performed on the DCT domain mixed field/frame mode macroblock to obtain a horizontal 1-D DCT domain macroblock. Thereafter, field/frame conversion is performed on the horizontal 1-D DCT domain macroblock to yield a field or frame mode horizontal 1-D DCT domain macroblock, depending on the required conversion. Finally, a vertical 1-D DCT is performed on the field/frame converted horizontal 1-D DCT domain macroblock to yield a 2-D DCT domain macroblock.
