Abstract: A method of managing information system resources to provide a message flow having a consistent level of quality of service (QoS) within and across a plurality of interconnected middleware domains is described. The method includes receiving a QoS message from a first QoS manager expressing at least one QoS requirement, translating the at least one QoS requirement to at least one parameter specific to a messaging service that communicatively couples multiple middleware domains, creating a client connection between a first middleware domain and the messaging service for receiving the message flow, transmitting the QoS message to a second middleware domain, and creating a client connection between the messaging service and the second middleware domain for transmitting the message flow.

Abstract: A method determining distribution of a shared resource among nodes in a network includes: (a) identifying each node according to a function performed by the node; brokers collecting messages from the nodes and disseminating messages among the nodes; publishers originating messages for transmission via the network; subscribers receiving messages transmitted via the network; (b) in no particular order: (1) identifying a need for each node; and (2) identifying the shared resource available for distribution; (c) communicating the shared resource available for distribution within the network to the brokers; and (d) operating each broker to: (1) coordinate communication with all other brokers and individually apply an algorithm to optimally allocate the shared resource among the brokers; or (2) communicate with a central facility coupled with each broker while the central facility applies an algorithm to optimally allocate the shared resource among the brokers.

Abstract: The embodiments described herein describe a computerized system and method for retrieving and processing data to provide dependency and root cause information for a process. The computerized system and method include receiving historic data of the process, detecting temporal dependency or precedence tasks in the process from the historic data, generating a historic dependency graph, aggregating the historic dependency graph into a probabilistic precedence network (PPN), pruning the PPN, and presenting results to a user.

Abstract: Various embodiments and implementations include a system and method for determining distinct occurrences of a pattern in a sequence of time-stamped event instances by determining a maximum cardinality of disjoint occurrences of the pattern in the one or more sequences. The present disclosure also includes estimating an expected quantity of distinct occurrences of a pattern in a sequence of time-stamped events assigned to event categories. The present disclosure further includes identifying a surprise pattern within a sequence of time-stamped events.

Abstract: A method for administering object-based multi-level security in a service oriented architecture includes: (a) defining a plurality of multi-level security attributes for each of selected respective life-cycle states of a plurality of life-cycle states of a service object; (b) receiving a request from a requestor for the service object; (c) determining permitted actions for the service object based upon at least one selected multi-level security attribute of the plurality of multi-level security attributes, and based upon at least one life-cycle state of the plurality of life-cycle states of the service object; and (d) generating a quality of service security contract based upon the determination of permitted actions.

Abstract: Method and system of building a reasoning model using relational databases is provided. The method includes identifying data objects in relational databases; determining dependency relationships between the data objects; translating the data objects into nodes of a Bayesian network; and automatically translating the dependency relationships into a graphical structure of a Bayesian network. The system includes at least one server for storing data of a system having numerous interconnected parts; monitoring agents for monitoring the data of the numerous interconnected parts stored in the system; an events log for storing any event observed by the monitoring agents; and relational databases for storing data objects, the data objects correspond to the data of the numerous interconnected parts.

Abstract: A processor, a method, and a program executable by a processor and residing on a machine readable memory are each configured to define work phases achieved at the direction of a person in interaction with a computing device. A first program component is configured to divide the work phase performed into at least one work object and at least one transition object. The worklet object has a boundary and includes at least one input data class, and at least one output data class, and at least one act upon the at least one input data class to produce the at least one output data class. The transition object is configured to include a decision gate succeeding each work phase. The decision gate configured to allow progress out of the boundary upon satisfaction of a boundary condition.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for the efficient indexing and delivery of information to interested users who have expressed an interest in or “subscribed” to information items that are continuously released or “published” by some data source in XML format. Previously, publish and subscribe systems accepted keyword-based subscription profiles and did not support subscription to XML documents according to their structures. Direct approach to implement XML-based publish and subscribe system by checking each user profile against an XML document is very time consuming. The presentation invention, though, provides an efficient method to identify interested subscribers for each XML document by indexing queries utilizing a graphical structure of nodes. When an XML document is published, the index identifies all matched expressions in the index and delivers at least a portion of an XML document to a user who has expressed an interest in receiving this information.
