  • Patent number: 8261450
Abstract: A handle and stand apparatus for holding a razor in an upright configuration includes a housing defining an interior area and an open top and bottom. A plurality of gripping members extends upwardly in the interior area and each includes a distal end adjacent the open top. A clamping member is situated in the open top of the housing defining a bore configured to receive the handle of the razor into the interior area. The clamping member is rotatable between a clamped configuration in which the gripping members are urged inwardly about the razor handle and a released configuration in which the gripping members are released away from the razor handle. A vibration device may be situated in the housing interior area to cause water droplets to be dislodged from the razor when energized. The apparatus may include a counter circuit and display to monitor a number of razor uses.

  • Publication number: 20080017563
Abstract: A drainage system for a synthetic sports field is disclosed that substantially prevents the leeching of specific contaminants from surface runoff water from entering into water tables or sewer systems associated with the drainage of the synthetic sports field. The drainage system includes a containment system and filtration system located beneath the synthetic sports field for directing rainwater through a series of drains and filters prior to being exposed to either the sewer system or water table. In this way, environmental concerns associated with the drainage of synthetic sports fields is alleviated.

  • Publication number: 20070248772
Abstract: A process for inlaying features into a synthetic turf field is disclosed in which a portion of the field is first removed down to the substrate, leaving an opening. A layer of seam tape is introduced to the underlying substrate within the opening. An adhesive is applied to the top surface of the seam tape. A new section of the synthetic grass material, having the features as desired, is then laid onto the adhesive within the opening. A roller is introduced over the new section of turf one or more times to cause a portion of the adhesive material to infiltrate the pores along the bottom of the backing material prior to complete cure of the adhesive material. The four corners of the new section of synthetic turf are stitched to the previously placed turf to ensure that the corners don't peel upwardly during play.

  • Publication number: 20070124769
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide the ability for a subscriber to define personal broadcast channels. Such personal broadcast channels can allow a subscriber to define a play order for a plurality of sets of content (including without limitation video content, audio content, various alerts and/or other data, and the like). In some cases, the content might be on-demand content; in other cases, real-time content may be integrated as well. In an aspect, some embodiments thus provide a subscriber with heretofore unknown flexibility in determining what content, and in what order, the subscriber wishes to be provided (e.g., from a content provider's network). In some cases, this functionality might be provided by a networked personal video recorder. In other cases, a subscriber (or another) might be allowed to distribute (perhaps for a fee), a personal broadcast channel for use by others.

  • Publication number: 20070124781
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide networked storage of content, which can be used to allow the enhanced provision of real-time and/or on-demand content (such as video content, audio content, etc.) to a subscriber. Merely by way of example, in an aspect of some embodiments, a hierarchical storage structure may be used to cache content for provision to a plurality of subscribers. This can be used to balance competing concerns of efficiently using network and/or storage resources and providing expedient responses to subscribers' requests for content.

  • Publication number: 20070124416
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide novel solutions for providing real-time content in an on-demand environment. In a novel aspect of some embodiments, a real-time on demand server may be configured to integrate real-time content with on-demand content. This can allow a subscriber to enjoy the benefits of on-demand programming without having to forego access to real-time news, sports, weather information and/or the like.

  • Publication number: 20070124779
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide novel solutions for providing content (including without limitation audio content and video content) to subscribers. In an aspect of some embodiments, content can be provided in an on-demand manner, allowing subscribers to select what content to receive and/or when to receive such content. In another aspect, embodiments can provide real-time content in such an on-demand environment, allowing a user to experience both the convenience of on-demand content and the timeliness of real-time content, perhaps integrated into a single stream of content. Merely by way of example, some embodiments provide personal broadcast channels, which can allow a user to define an ordered set of on-demand and/or real-time content to be delivered. Other embodiments provide automatic conversion services and/or networked content storage.

  • Publication number: 20070121651
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide solutions for converting content, such as audio files and/or streams, video files and/or streams, other data files and/or the like. In an aspect, embodiments of the invention thus provide novel solutions to facilitate the provision of media services to one or more subscribers. In a set of embodiments, for example, media conversion services might be performed according to a subscriber's profile, such that the conversion services can be provided, in some cases, on the fly while providing the media to the subscriber, allowing the subscriber to obtain content in the necessary format without having to specify in each instance the formats in which various content should be provided.
